WesKBob (124), Bethany, Oklahoma, USA Apr 25, 2008 Pours a hazy gold with a white two-finger head. Has a very fruity aroma with a sweet, almost sugary hint (a rater below me said marshmallow circus peanuts, and that’s not far off). Unfortunately, the flavor is more muted and not as complex as the aroma. Nice hints of yeast and floral hops. Surprisingly smooth mouthfeel for a tripel. In the grand scheme of beers it’s very good, but middle of the road as a tripel
waolsen (922), Littleton, Colorado, USA Jul 18, 2008 bottle. straw pour wiht large amount of carbonation to big foamy white head. fresh pear, yeast, malt, earthiness in aroma. lively mouth. fruitiness, light syrup in texture. organic, very light spice. Tmoney99 (3429), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 5, 2008 Corked Bottle from River’s Bend. Poured clear amber color with a huge fizzy white head that lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate yeasty and tart fruity aroma. Medium body. Medium fruity crisp flavor with a medium balanced finish of moderate duration with a small alcohol bite. This is a good drinkable beer. DutchCrow (15), Alkmaar, Netherlands Jul 3, 2008 Decent tripel. Funny old man on the cover. A bit bubbly. I like it a lot better when it’s in the glass for a couple of minutes., not straight out of the bottle. Refreshing, sweet, fruity, not very full-bodied, but also NOT watery at all. I enjoyed it a couple of times already. Tight bubbles, but not that many. Almost clear for a Belgian. Aroma of malt and fruit, orange perhaps. Taste not what I expected after the aroma as it has strong hints of toffee with butterscotch and a touch of sherry. Slight citrus but predominant flavor is a mix of all these with an barely perceivable underlying tone of spice. Nice mouth feel, very nice. Body not heavy, but definitely not thin. This is an excellent tripel. I will have to try their other products.
Beer hunting with types like these yet to be discovered is marvelous.
