Bottle. Clear golden with a dense white head. Nose of banana, citrus peels, melon and grass. The flavour is zingy citrus, banana, bread and spice. Medium bodied. Dry and hoppy finish. The abv slowly creeps through as well. New world take on the style and it works well.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Sigmund (3495) - Hafrsfjord, NORWAY - APR 18, 2010
750 ml corked and wired bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 9.5%. Very pale golden colour, huge white head. The aroma has notes of Belgian ale yeast (spicy and fruity), white candi sugar and fruity and flowery hops. The flavour is sweet, spicy and well hopped, very drinkable for its strength. Spicy and moderately bitter finish.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 mross (169) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - APR 15, 2010
Bottle. Pours a light golden colour with a beautiful foamy and creamy white head. Aroma of banana, melon, peach and hops. Flavours of sweet malt, caramel, sweet fruit and yeast but also a decent amount of hops aswell. Nice well rounded body with alcohol slightly present but for the most part hidden. Finish has a long, bitterness and dryness to it with that Belgian yeast definitely noticeable.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 chimplechamp (579) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 11, 2010
A big beer no doubt, pours very light, lighter than I was imagining. With a big foamy white head. Lots of caramel on the nose, mingling with yeasty breadyness and a fair dose of hop. Taste was although wellbalance missing something for me. It was smooth, it wasnt offensive. Maybe I was hoping there would be more citrus there, or maybe it was something with the wheat flavors I was picking up. I don’t know. I wasn’t dissappointed but I wasnt over the moon about this one either.
