Bottle. Cloudy gold pour with a big off-white head. Nose of Belgian yeast, grassy hops and sweet malt. Malty flavor up front with some banana yeasty character before a bitter hop finish.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 gnoff (4830) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 28, 2009
75 cl bottle from Systembolaget BB 08-2010, sampled on October 27, 2009 HAzy with visible particles pale golden color, big fluffy white head. Fresh, spicy, lactic, malty, alcohol scent. Spicy, acidic, bitter, fruity, sweet, phenolic, alchool taste. Phenolic and alcohol aftertaste. MEdium mouthfeel, medium bitterness. Alcohol is way too evident all over the place in this one, with clear notes of alcohol in scent, taste and aftertaste, as well as with a warming gut feeling. Hits the old head after only half a small glass too. Not for me, needs to show less alcohol character. Also not very hoppy as suggested bu the name and description.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Jonte (1184) - Gothenburg, SWEDEN - OCT 25, 2009
Bottle. Yellow clear colour with some yeast floaters. White head. Aroma: fresh, hoppy, rubarbs, grass, yeast. Flavor: fresh, rather hoppy, herbs, citrus, fruit, yeast, noticeble alcohol.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Gypsy19 (728) - California, USA - OCT 25, 2009
Pours a cloudy, bubbly orange with a medium ivory head. Aroma is generously hoppy with even a little cannabis skunkiness. Flavor is indeed very hoppy; It’s definitely a Belgian-style ale, but with a lot of bitter hops. Strange, I’ve never had a Belgian this hoppy, but it works out okay. Very fruity to boot. Full mouthfeel, hearty viscosity. Different, but good. I like it. Overall, good to very good.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 rickgordon (3758) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - OCT 23, 2009
Bottled.
Clear deep golden colour. Metal, roses, almond paste in aroma. Really lacking in hop aroma considering the label that promises a hoppy beer. Bit too much of alcohol in aroma also, not the pleasant one. Hm, it’s very Belgian with the phenols and all but really unrefined. Alcohol feel is overwhelming. Not much hops here. The classic Triple almond paste again, along with caramelly features. Pretty dry beer. Nope, this was far from good.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 danielst (226) - Vienna, AUSTRIA - OCT 22, 2009
33cl bottle: I expected much more hop character from a beer called Hop-it. Flowery, peach-fruity aroma with some perfumy notes as well as a light banana character from the yeast. The appearance is hazy orange with a fluffy white head. Flavour shows some caramel/honey maltiness with a touch of herbal hops. Medium bodied with some noticeable, warming alcohol and a dry, but not heavily bitter finish. Aromas and flavours are rather restrained, a bit of a disappointment.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20 Travlr (4540) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - OCT 18, 2009
Hazy yellow orange with a rapidly disappearing white head. Aroma of freshly mown grass. Aggressive hop flavor, but well balanced with malt, so it does not seem over the top. Very full bodied, and long-lasting bitter finish. A winner.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Spab (1118) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - OCT 15, 2009
On tap at Monk’s Table. Pours a clear gold with moderate white head. Sweet nose of fruit and spices. Flavour is also fruity with real citrus presence, spices. Strong, bitter finish. Alcohol really becomes apparent as it warms. Nice beer.
