Tastes like white wine in the background. Palate: medium body, dry texture, lively carbonation and light adstringent and moderate alcoholic finish. 110s

33cl bottle. Pale golden and lively sparkling beer. The head is huge, thick and creamy. The aroma is strong hoppy, herbal and fruitish malty. Spicy yeast character is quite funky! The flavor has pale malts, some winegum-like fruitiness, warming alcohol and bitter finish. Clear sugary sweetness. The palate is medium bodied, high in carbonation but stuill smooth. Alcoholic sensation and long bitter finish.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 jerc (5444) - Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 8, 2009
2009-05-04. Golden yellow, crisp body with a smallish white head. (3+) Floral hoppy aroma, pale malts. (7+) Pleasant hoppy flavour - somewhat grassy hops, good amount of bitterness throughout. Mild but pleasant base of pale malt adds balancing sweetness. Average to medium bodied palate is pleasantly carbonated. Bit simple at times but rather nice. On tap at Volo, Toronto

On draft at Beer Bistro. Clear gold in colour with moderate carbonation. Aromas of mild herbal hops, pale malts, and icing sugar. The herbal hops come through a bit more in the mouth, along with some tropical fruit, cooking spices, and Belgian yeast notes. Quite drinkable for the abv, but I was hoping for a bit more hop character.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 RaphaelN (195) - Peterborough, Ontario, CANADA - MAY 6, 2009
On tap at Volo - shared with a friend. This one was a surprise. I showed up late and saw a small unhappy pool of this sitting in the bottom of my friend’s glass. Before leaving, I decided to give it a shot, and am Ii glad I did. Probably the only Belgian ale I have had that tastes like a lager - but in a good way. Quite a whollop of spice in this brew, cardamom, coriander, fennel, cinnamon, you name it. Not among the best in the world, but a very nice brew anyway.

Draught at Smokeless Joe, Toronto. This is transparent golden in a ’Urthel’ goblet (shape is a bit like karmeliet) with a large foaming white head. The head really lasted until the beer was finished. There were some fresh hop notes in the aroma, some yeast as in many Belgian style golden ales. I don’t get too much of the alcohol in the flavour. There’s plenty more hop bitterness in there, Belgian golden ale yeastiness; I taste some wood, pine, citrus, especially light lemon, pineapple. Mouthfeel is smooth: light to medium in body.

Bottle, Very hoppy, spicey, a long bitterness in the finish but not unpleasant. Small bubbles in the glass.

Bottle from under the stairs. Brilliant lager gold with a dense white collar, plenty of ominous grey floaties left swirling around at the bottom of the bottle. Juicy peach yeastiness over ripe tanging hop aroma with grass, clementine and juniper. Almond and alcohol as the head dissipates, mellowed beautifully by floral hop and honeyed malt. Mightily hopped for style, and tanging like Poperings Hommelbier. Soapy citrus with bright savoury grass and satsuma tones over a big warming biscuity malt base. Honey, blossomy herbal notes, peach and occasional solvent all in there. Some shampoo and lingering spiritous booze.Quite something.
