(0.33 l bottle at Tuulensuu, Tampere, on 2008-07-26) Golden. Hazy. Largish white dense head. Hops in metallic nose. Dryish medium-bodied palate with quite lot of carbonation. Bitterness, fruitiness, yeast and grapefruit in taste. Long aftertaste with bitterness. but not too strong bitterness.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BoBoChamp (3020) - Gent, BELGIUM - JUL 26, 2008
33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, complex, hazy, rocky head, nice brew, but not a topper
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 TBone (9096) - Pori, FINLAND - JUL 22, 2008
Bottled (BB 08/2010)
Hazy pale yellow color, steady small white head, lots of floating yeast particles. Suprisingly aroma is quite weak: grapefruit, some citrusy hops, papery maltyness. But flavor is very hoppy with citrusy acidity. Mouthfeel is crisp but a bit thin. Refreshing summer drink - long bitter aftertaste with hints of sugar.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 soyorganic (241) - Denver, Colorado, USA - JUL 20, 2008
On tap: Light copper color with a huge white head. Hops and yeast were noticeable on the nose. This beer had a slight watered down taste, but had a nice hop flavor complimented with slight yeasty notes.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 FatPhil (5970) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - JUL 14, 2008
330ml bottle (Tuulensuu, Tampere)
Gold, healthy white head. Simple sweet aroma, malty and some hops, whatever. Sticky in the mouth. Quite punchy taste - big sweet malts, and hops that build up and build up continually. I even tasted coconut at a few points from the sweet combination of flavours. Very long hoppy finish. Nothing is wrong with this, but it is not wowing me. The bitter hops are quite well balanced, and the 9.5% is quite well hidden. I can certainly imagine this being a real hit for others (and a nightmare for some too).
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Borresteijn (2596) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - JUL 14, 2008
Bottle @ home. One of my long time favourites. Hazy golden appearance with a huge fluffy/rocky white head. Smell is of hops and malts. Taste is very delicate, bitter, some soft sweetness and spices with a nice bitter finish. Nice soft and round mouthfeel. The "new" version of this brew is actually a bit softer/sweeter and less bitter than the old version, nevertheless a great beer.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 SudsMcDuff (3213) - .....Manchester United.........., Texas, USA - JUL 12, 2008
bought after the beer meeting - $96 later ... Golden, big fluffy head, lacing : grade A+ ... bitter, sweet, flavourful, beehive, delicious ...like a hoppppy tripppel .. ABV is well hidden ... does the dutch proud ... ’i wouldn’t leave the bar if i could find this on tap’ .. just an enjoyable brew, but the hophead in me says ’more hops!’
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 SuperDave (1934) - Beautiful Sunny Mesa, Arizona, USA - JUL 11, 2008
Cloudy golden pour with a big foamy head that lasts throughout. Light fruit, malt and hops in the aroma. Spicy belgian ale flavor up front, with a good, not too bitter, hoppy finish. Definately different and amazingly tasty.
