nhorween (505), New York, New York, USA Mar 28, 2008 11.2 oz bottle. Golden pour with a long lasting white head. Tastes like one of them IPA tripels - grassy, malt in the back, slightly spicy. Alcohol is well hidden. Smooth and short finish. Nice beer.
dm9831 (572), Monee, Illinois, USA Aug 28, 2008 cloudy gold pour, slight white head, some lacing. nose of grass, floral hop hints. grainy flavor with fruity notes. kinda bubbly with a bitter end. quite enjoyable, can probably be drunk all night. hides the alcohol well. don’t drink and drive. joekinty (177), rockledge, Florida, USA Aug 23, 2008 lots of floral hops big frothy head light maltiness grapefruit yummy tasty big european type IPA maybe belgian has a nice dry finish BrotherGrendel (135), San Diego (La Jolla), California, USA Aug 23, 2008 On draft at O’Brien’s for CBC/WBC
Pours a clear golden orange hue, minimal white lacing sustains, thick lacing on the glass
Smell is Belgian yeast, sweet honey, light fruits, and lemony citrus hops, fairly subtle for an IPA
Taste is cotton candy and Belgian yeast initially, followed by citrus, light fruits and grassy hops, sweet malts, peppery spices, pine resin, finishes with alcohol and dry bitterness
Mouthfeel is medium-bodied, slick and oily texture, moderate carbonation
Drinkability is moderate, a well-balanced IPA that is a little light on the the hop presence and bordering on cloying sweetness, the Belgian aspect is a unique twist on the style, overall a solid but unremarkable beer Homer321 (73), Rockledge, Florida, USA Aug 21, 2008 Poured from a corked belgain bottle. I was really expecting more hops after examining the label. nose shows signs of sugars, expected of a belgian. Hops are obviously more than traditional belgains and slightly spicy. Ignoring the label and just drinking this beer, it is one good beer. Eyedrinkale (3102), Beer Town, New York, USA Aug 16, 2008 33 cl bottle poured into a Czechvar glass. Great looking beer with a creamy white head. and lots of lacing. Since I snagged this right off the pallet at the distributor as soon as it came in to the states, it should be super fresh. The aroma makes you think it is. Spicy, peppery hops you usually get from tripels. The flavor is on the sweet side with some banana and candy sugars. This stuff is a whopper, as the alcohol is hardly masked at all. Really yeasty with dried banana and apricots. There’s a really creamy consistency to the body as well, reminding me of PumKing. I haven’t had this beer in a while and I’m going to put this in the rotation. Good stuff.
