Brewed under direction of Hildegard van Ostaden, formerly at Van Steenberge, now at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery.
With its rich foam, hoppy flavour and fine bitterness, Urthel Vlaemse Bock is a special ale with a high drinkability for lovers of the authentic Flemish brewing art. Vlaemse Bock as originally brewed for the winter, but is now available in 33 cl. (330 ml./ 11.2 FL.OZ.), 75 cl. (750 ml./1 PT. 9.4 FL. OZ.) and kegs the whole year. You can only buy Urthel Vlaemse Bock in the United States. Poured a really dirty brown, like sewer water, but a beautiful 2-finger head with fine lacing. Promising aroma of caramel, roasted apricot, burnt brown sugar. An intriguing sour and bitter flavor mixes in with the rich malts and pitted fruit. A fun twist on the dubbel style. Curious about aging?

Dark amber pour with a thin tan head. Earthy and funky yeast aroma. Taste is funky caramel with some fruitiness. Not too bad.

Brown with a lasting off-white head. Malty aroma with caramel, fruit and phenols. Sweet malty, caramel flavour with a drying finish. Nothing special.

Poured chocolatey brown with a good size, beige-coloured head. Sweet malty flavour but slightly more watery than I’d expect from a dubbel. Decent but unspectacular.
