heemer77 (4294), Savannah, Missouri, USA Jun 20, 2007 The body is medium brown with a hint of ruby red. The head is light tan and long lasting. The aroma is cinnamon with massive amounts of pear brandy. There is also a hint of caramel under that. The taste is caramel with some rich Bananas Foster. This is lightly carbonated and fairly pleasant for a mouhtfeel. The lingering after taste has hints of caramel and tobacco. It gets a little cloying sweet as you drink more. Dark ruby color, nice beige creamy head. Light coffee and berries in the nose. Semi-sweet abbey dubbel, a bit sugary-toffeish, grassy hops, light alcohol plus earthy notes. Leaves light grassy aftertaste. Quite simple, but same time very drinkable brew to sip. oh6gdx (8802), Vasa, Finland Jun 16, 2007 Bottled. Dark brown opaque colour with big creamy beige head. Aroma is yeast, caramel, toffee, hops, fruits and malts. Flavour is yeast, slight almost metallicness and a lot of malts. Also much caramel, some signs of alcohol and a bit spices do show. Tmoney99 (4660), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jun 6, 2007 Bottle from Keg Liqour. Poured hazy dark brown color with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Good tawny port fruity aroma. Medium body with smooth texture. Full well balanced sweet fruity flavor with a medium complex finish of long duration. Good brew. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA Jun 6, 2007 Very sweet dark fruit, malt aroma with minor brown sugar and raisin notes. The head is a massive three finger affair and is quite lasting with a tan hue. Has a somewhat burnt/toasted flavor right at the fore like brown sugar and molasses burnt onto a frying pan. Quickly gets sweet, but then gives some dry cooked dark fruit notes before going carmelized again with some pumpernickel notes. Decent. mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Jun 2, 2007 I wasnt aware this was labeled a dubbel. Pours a dark brown with a medium off white head. Smells of candy sugar, caramel, and raisins. Sweet and fruity smelling. Lots of dark fruit in the taste, typical of dubbels. Pretty sweet and flavorful, some molasses and raisins make up the rest of the flavors. Fairly smooth and easy to drink. I was pleasantly surprised. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA May 30, 2007 Dark Brick Red Color with Sandy Head. Vinous Bready Nose, With Raisin and Fruit Notes as Well. Medium to Heavy Mouthfeel..Creamy with Carbonation Interruption..An Overall Dry Dark Bread Note Coats the Back of the Mouth...With Sweet Dry Malt Flavor, Yeast, Dried Fruit and Raisins....Overall a Nice Sipping Session Belgian. dmac (1420), Toms River, New Jersey, USA May 29, 2007 750 ml bottle shared with rebelbeerguy. Poured dark brown with a slight hint of orange and a large off white head. Aroma was nice with dark fruit, raisins, and sugar being present. Flavor didn’t live up to the aroma and although similar it just wasn’t strong enough. Slight alcohol warming on the very back of my throat. Pretty good beer but for the money there are many better options.
