Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada May 8, 2007 Brown-ruby body with a medium beige head. All kinds of fruits wrapped by roasted brown-sugar. Mainly dark fruits flavours but also some tropical fruits. Finish is rather hoppy. Too small of a sample at a tasting session. Nice beer, need to get myself a bottle. Bock name is misleading. Dubbel style of ratebeer seems appropriate. Ha beers… unlike women, the good ones go down easy. HopheadHans (753), Bay Area, California, USA May 3, 2007 Bottle. This to seems like a regular Belgian Double. It pours with a brown color and has aromas of dough and some figs. Flavors of bread, figs, raisins and some licorice. Lots of Belgian yeast and quite sweet. Alcohol is well hidden, beer is well carbonated, generating a a large head. rlgk (3377), Vårgårda, Sweden Apr 29, 2007 Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm. Dark amber color, very nice lasting creamy offwhite head. Yeasty, malty and hoppy aroma. Fruity bubbelgum flavor, malty and with some spices. Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Apr 22, 2007 Bottle, 33 cl. Brown color, large off-white head. Aroma is fruity with caramel and little spicy. Medium body.
Taste sweet, malts, little spices.
Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Apr 22, 2007 Bottle. Off-white creamy but high and long lalsting head. Beautivul clear dark red body. Lovely and distinct barlley malt aroma. Back in the country side on a summerday. Rather sweet with just a hint of the alcohol. Low carbonated. Pretty suggary. Spicy caramel flavor (hard to describe). Do I like it: Oh yeat man. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA Apr 21, 2007 11.2oz bottle from Kingdon Liquors Brandon, Fl. Pours a clear brown/amber with a large long lasting tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit, and lightly roasted malt. Taste is slightly sweet and full of caramel with a well balanced bitterness and slight yeast spice. Med-full mouthfeel that finishes dry. A very good dubbel. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Apr 19, 2007 12 oz bottle VIA trade (thanks to whoever sent this). Pours a CLEAR dark reddish borwn with a massive beige head. The nose is fruity with melon, strawbery and some plum. Taste starts and ends quite sharp with some fruity esters in between, as well as some toasted grains, and a tiny bit of chocolate and roastiness.A bit too hoppy of a finish for a Bock. Carbonation is too high as well. Crisp/dry but almost hot finish. Body is thin/medium. This would be a good beer if they lowered the carbonation and the hops and the heat....It is not bad, but i am not impressed enough to finish this bottle, as it is called a BOCK on the bottle, but it is far from a Bock. I expect a beer to be close to style if they are going to label it as such. Deducting 2 overall points for mislableing their prodiuct. And yes i am feeling a slight bit like an ass tonight..but give a person what they expect/pay for ;) Dorwart (1807), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Apr 15, 2007 Good sized light brown head of medium sized bubbles. Quite foamy as it settles. Moderate carbonation. Rich and spicy aroma with some cinnamon, prunes, raisins, sweet malts and brown sugar. Hist of sourness in the aroma but very faint. Color is a dark port brown. Flavor is a little on the dry side with loads of malts. Minor yeast character in the background. Alcohol is present and is noticable late swallow. More ripe dark fruits and spices. Lively in the mouth. Finishes dry a bit pasty with more lingering spices and alcohol. A very good dubbel. I always liked the Urthel brews and this is no exception.
