Pours a CLEAR dark reddish borwn with a massive beige head. The nose is fruity with melon, strawbery and some plum. Taste starts and ends quite sharp with some fruity esters in between, as well as some toasted grains, and a tiny bit of chocolate and roastiness.A bit too hoppy of a finish for a Bock. Carbonation is too high as well. Crisp/dry but almost hot finish. Body is thin/medium. This would be a good beer if they lowered the carbonation and the hops and the heat....It is not bad, but i am not impressed enough to finish this bottle, as it is called a BOCK on the bottle, but it is far from a Bock. I expect a beer to be close to style if they are going to label it as such. Deducting 2 overall points for mislableing their prodiuct. And yes i am feeling a slight bit like an ass tonight..but give a person what they expect/pay for ;) Dorwart (1812), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 15, 2007 Good sized light brown head of medium sized bubbles. Quite foamy as it settles. Moderate carbonation. Rich and spicy aroma with some cinnamon, prunes, raisins, sweet malts and brown sugar. Hist of sourness in the aroma but very faint. Color is a dark port brown. Flavor is a little on the dry side with loads of malts. Minor yeast character in the background. Alcohol is present and is noticable late swallow. More ripe dark fruits and spices. Lively in the mouth. Finishes dry a bit pasty with more lingering spices and alcohol. A very good dubbel. I always liked the Urthel brews and this is no exception. dchmela (1426), Orlando, Florida, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 5, 2007 Bottled. A dark brown coloured beer with a good off-white head. The aroma has plenty of candy sugar, raisins and brown bread together with some fizzy fruit. The taste is more of the same although the bready malts are more subdued than the smell would lead you to expect. Nevertheless a decent tasting beer. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 5, 2007 Poured an amber with good head. Aroma was doughy and as butterscotch as eaglefan said. Flavor was doughy as well with the butterscotch and dark fruits. Not a favorite of mine eaglefan538 (2360), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 31, 2007 Poured an amber color, nice generous head, ok lacing. The aroma was butterscotch, light vinegar, malty dough. The flavor was dark fruits, light chocolate, some grass, doughy notes, butterscotch, not as much vinegar as the aroma (almost a flemish twist to the flavor profile). The mouthfeel was a little acidic, highly carbonated. SilkTork (4167), Rochester, Kent, England
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 29, 2007 330ml bottle from BeersOfEurope. A soft, creamy dark ale. Gentle and agreeable English hop bitterness growing into the finish. Carbonation quite tickly on the palate, leaving a lasting impression. Soft, not clearly defined bread and raisin flavoured malt. This doesn’t hold together well. Shame, as there are not enough female brewers these days, and I so want this to taste better than it does.
