Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Brewed under direction of Hildegard van Ostaden, formerly at Van Steenberge, now at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery.
With its rich foam, hoppy flavour and fine bitterness, Urthel Vlaemse Bock is a special ale with a high drinkability for lovers of the authentic Flemish brewing art. Vlaemse Bock as originally brewed for the winter, but is now available in 33 cl. (330 ml./ 11.2 FL.OZ.), 75 cl. (750 ml./1 PT. 9.4 FL. OZ.) and kegs the whole year. You can only buy Urthel Vlaemse Bock in the United States. This heart-warming dubbel of 7.5% of alcohol, traditionally top fermented and bottle conditioned flamey dark ale has a tastefully rich, malty, slightly sweet flavour. Vlaemse Bock’s very fine distinctive bitterness makes you forget the long cold winter.

Poured an amber with good head. Aroma was doughy and as butterscotch as eaglefan said. Flavor was doughy as well with the butterscotch and dark fruits. Not a favorite of mine

11.2 oz bottle. Vlaemse Label. Very active carbonation. Pours a murky brown color with a frothy, bone colored head. Somewhat bready, sweet malt aroma with some prunes and a hint (slightest hint) of some bubblegum phenols. A rich, c hocolatly dubbel with big caramel, toffee and fruit notes. Charcoal-like dry finish. There’s not much bock-like about this beer; it’s a strange name. I really enjoy the beer.

superb..pours dark brown with medium beige head...aroma is massive in raison, prune, fig, and brown sugar (huge in sugar, mild in spice, and little yeast adding to the nose)..flavor is also dominated by such malts (brown sugar, raison, toast, and maple syrup)...hints of cherry just before the alcohol-touched finish...well done!

Dark brown, roasted malts, dark fruits, weird sour bitter finish that killed it. Maybe it was bad?

Draft, at Monk’s Cafe. Pours a ruby/chestnyt color with a thick tan head. sweet malty aroma, with some fruity, almost vinous character. Complex flavor with sweet malt, cocoa, fruit, and alcohol. Really nice.

Lots of Belgian yeasties and dark fruit. Taste oddly enjoyable. Lots of fruit and acidity paired with chewy malt. Like a caramel bun drenched in fruit acid.
