Commercial Description:
Bottle conditioned.
Brewed under direction of Hildegard van Ostaden, formerly at Van Steenberge, now at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery.
With its rich foam, hoppy flavour and fine bitterness, Urthel Vlaemse Bock is a special ale with a high drinkability for lovers of the authentic Flemish brewing art. Vlaemse Bock as originally brewed for the winter, but is now available in 33 cl. (330 ml./ 11.2 FL.OZ.), 75 cl. (750 ml./1 PT. 9.4 FL. OZ.) and kegs the whole year. You can only buy Urthel Vlaemse Bock in the United States. This heart-warming dubbel of 7.5% of alcohol, traditionally top fermented and bottle conditioned flamey dark ale has a tastefully rich, malty, slightly sweet flavour. Vlaemse Bock's very fine distinctive bitterness makes you forget the long cold winter.

750ml bottle -pours a creamy to blotchy light tan head that laces and mahogany color. Aroma is dark/medium malt-creamy/smooth, dark caramel, molasses, dark fruit-cherry, faint woody-hops. Taste is dark/medium malt-creamy/smooth, dark caramel, molasses, dark fruit-cherry, faint woody-hops. Easy drinking, good effervescence. Better when cooler at 45 degrees than at 50 +.

330ml bottle (Kaisla, Helsinki)
Almost ruby red, healthy tight head. Caramel and sweet dark fruits in the aroma. Sharp carbonation. Very caramelly and clearly burnt sweet taste. However, lacking something to grasp on to. Covers the 7.5% quite well. Preferred this to Hop-it, certainly.

11.2oz bottle from Michael’s FIne Wine and Spirits (Orlando, FL). Pours a dark brown with red highlights and a huge tan foamy two finger head. Aroma is sweet and lamty with notes of caramel, dark chocolate. Flavor is much of the same with a slight bitterness throughout and a hint of coffee toward the finish. Generally medium body with a slightly sweet, slightly bitter finish.

On tap. Dark brown, big beige head. Aroma of dark chocolate, roasted malts, caramel. Flavour is soft malts, dark chocolate, caramel sweetness balanced by a nice dry finish. Mouthfeel is like chocolate milk. Improved version of the Vlaemse bock.
