Dickinsonbeer (2514), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Aug 14, 2006 750 ml thanks to jimmack at mels gathering. Pours a ruby medium amber, clear and a nice lasting head. Aroma has quite a bit of diacetyl which covers up most of the underlying sweetness. Flavor is sweet, sugary, light molasses, toasty malts, more butter, kind of one-dimensional.
FatPhil (2102), Espoo, Finland Sep 1, 2008 330ml bottle (Kaisla, Helsinki)
Almost ruby red, healthy tight head. Caramel and sweet dark fruits in the aroma. Sharp carbonation. Very caramelly and clearly burnt sweet taste. However, lacking something to grasp on to. Covers the 7.5% quite well. Preferred this to Hop-it, certainly. kiefdog (421), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 31, 2008 11.2oz bottle from Michael’s FIne Wine and Spirits (Orlando, FL). Pours a dark brown with red highlights and a huge tan foamy two finger head. Aroma is sweet and lamty with notes of caramel, dark chocolate. Flavor is much of the same with a slight bitterness throughout and a hint of coffee toward the finish. Generally medium body with a slightly sweet, slightly bitter finish.
