COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Unfiltered in bottle, filtered in keg.
Ingredients: Water, Barley malt, Wheat (20%), Sugar, Yeast.
First brewed in November 2009. Top-fermented blond bottle conditioned beer. Urthel Saisonnière has a wide range of rich aromas and a subtle bitter taste. at 6.0% abv it is a thirst-quenching beer with a "bite". It produces a beautiful foam head due to the 20% of wheat. To fully enjoy Urthel Saisonnière, first pour half the bottle, then give it a twist (3x) to release the yeast and the wheat from the bottom and then pour the rest of the bottle into the glass.

Molt bona Saison amb els aromes típics de l’estil: espècies, cítrics, pa... En boca comença dolça, continua àcida i acaba amarga. Refrescant!

Urthel saison, first tasted at the Ghent Horeca Expo of 2009, which I believe was the first presentation to the public; with 20% wheat and intended to be a hybrid between a witbier and a true saison. Creamy, thick, snow white head, hazy golden blonde colour. Grainy and wheaty aroma, pepper, egg, tonic water, apple, grapefruit, straw, something sweaty. Soft dried fruity taste (unripe stonefruit, apple peel), light citrus hint, refreshing, bit grainy and wheaty again, mellow, mineral touches, spicy and long hop bitterness in the finish. Thirst-quenching but not a true saison to me.

Bottle from de bierschuur in Poppel. Golden beer with a light mist of yeast fills the glass and the beer has a beautiful full white head. Apple, pear, vanilla, spices and a little citrus can be observed in the smell. In the taste you can recognize the sweetness of vanilla, the fruitiness of apple, pears and citrus. Light to medium aftertaste and a bit dry at the end.

Bottle. Pours hazy dark straw with stable white head. Clear aroma of hops and malt, with fruity and citric notes. Sweetish, fruity flavour, with touches of malt and bitter, hoppy notes. Faints citric touches. Bitter and dusty aftertaste. Not like a classic Saison but drinkable.

Bottle, 6.0%. Mild bready aroma. Cloudy golden colour. Good stable white head. The flavour is bready and watery with a rough but good bitterness. Not clean, but drinkable.

330ml bottle served in a Thumbler glass. A: Pours a pale and slightly cloudy yellow color forming a big fluffy and creamy white head. Good retention and tons of lacings left. In fact a thin layer remains forever on the top. Beautiful beer S: Very spicy on the nose. Notes of pepper, honey, cloves, Belgian yeasts and flowery hops. T: Pretty much as the nose. Very spicy in the mouth too. Slightly sweet grains upfront followed by notes of honey, pepper, cloves, bready Belgian yeasts, flowery and bitter hops. Finish is considerably bitter M: Medium body and carbonation. Hoppy bitter aftertaste which is also quite grainy and spicy O: Great drinkability. Excellent Belgian Saison specimens.
