3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
In short: A Belgian blonde ale with a bit of a pilsner and german hefe flavors thrown in. Very enjoyable thirst quencher
How: Bottle 330ml. Consumed a week after receiving it through private importation but probably about 6 months old already
The look: Mostly clear blonde body topped by a medium long-lasting white head leaving lots of lacings on the glass
In long: Nose of lemongrass, some fruit flavored bubble gum, some bananas. Taste has some nice smooth almost bready pale malts, lemon zest, commercial cheddar, pineapples, bananas, dry grass. The citric/lemony and dry grassy hops provide a mild bitterness and a mild dryness. Much drier than the average Belgian blonde ale. Lively carbonation like I’ve come to expect from a classic Belgian brewery. This beer felt like the meeting of a light Belgian blonde ale, a german pilsner and a german hefe. This is not a complex beer nor is it a very tasty one. But it is refreshing, a bit nourishing and a lot of fun. I enjoyed that beer. Another beer I would drink in large quantities. My body used to be my temple, but now it feels and looks like a fermentation tank.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
bottle@home: if I am reading this right, my bottle must be less than 1 week old, which is how this tastes like, strong, fresh, bitter hops, it pours a very hazy yellow with a big head that doesn’t last long, smells of citrus & hops, the taste is dominated by bitter hops, citrus, wheat and has a very small hint of spice & banana in and some minor grass, the carbonation is decent but the body itself seems a bit too thin, nice beer but the bitterness although not bad, kind of overpowered everything, I was left a bit wanting for other things, even though I liked it, an older bottle might work better, unless if you are a hophead

[3/9/11] Draught at Beer Temple in Amsterdam. Slightly hazy golden with a white head. Aroma of yeast, fruit esters, some flowers and hops. Sweetish fruity flavor, continues bitter with some herbal and floral notes. Medium-bodied. Not bad.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
The minimal haze is disturbed by explosive carbonation that fees a vigorous white head. Constantly clinging to the glass. Pie crust breadiness comes out from the nose that is otherwise fresh and brightly hopped. Floral and gently lemony aromas come out of this as bready malts, soft and beautiful serve a support purpose, but successfully enhance the beer by their great freshness and integration to the ensemble. Juicier and more fruity than expected with exquisite and soft lemon/line citrusy aspects that agreeably complement the graininess. Well balanced minerality add a salty side. I sound enthusiastic and I am, this is good stuff. On the other hand, under the influence of the likes of Taras Boulba, this feels less interesting, opposed to strong opposition and clearly inspired by previous Belgian golden ales. A pleasurable, easy-going drink that is not a show-stopper, but one I’d gladly revisit anywhen.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a hazy shade of golden straw. Big creamy head that sticks around and laces the glass very nicely.
Clove, bananas, a little bubblegum. Very much like a typical blonde. Nothing distracting or annoying about it.
A little clove on the front with a very fruity banana presence. A little sweet, but just about right.
Smooth. Spicy due to the abundance of carbonation. Not sticky sweet, which might be the conclusion for the taste.
Very drinkable. Not harsh, not hot. A pleasant beverage to drink while mulling over the day. Probably my favorite Urthel to date, although Hop-It is good as well.
