First brewed in November 2009. Top-fermented blond bottle conditioned beer. Urthel Saisonnière has a wide range of rich aromas and a subtle bitter taste. at 6.0% abv it is a thirst-quenching beer with a "bite". It produces a beautiful foam head due to the 20% of wheat. To fully enjoy Urthel Saisonnière, first pour half the bottle, then give it a twist (3x) to release the yeast and the wheat from the bottom and then pour the rest of the bottle into the glass.

A nice underrated, under the radar saison. Good price point too for an import at $3.50 a bottle. It pours clear gold with a huge white head. The aroma is spicy with a bit of sulphur and pepper and hints of vanilla, citrus peel, and pear. The flavor is dry and very spicy, peppery with a huge citrusy bitter finish. Full bodied and flavorful. A really nice saison.

Pours a murky golden with a nice long lasting creamy head. Aroma of citrusy hops with some sweet light malt. Taste is light bitter hops and sweet nutty malt. Palate is light and crisp with good carbonation. Finish is bitter hops with light sweet nutty malt, a bit on the bitter side. Overall an ok brew nothing special here.

On tap at Monks. Pours a hazy yellow color with a decent white foam head. Has an aroma of grass and funk. Has a funky zesty taste. Decent.

Small bottle. Pours a hazy golden blond with a nice big sticky white head and great lace. Aroma is yeast, dough, cobwebby, light sulfur (as it warms) leather, some cookie dough, slight salt, mineral, very slight lemongrass, very light peppery saison-like yeast character- light phenols and allows nice subtle doughy malts and light grassy hops to come through. Flavor is yeast, doughy, light crackery bready malts, light toast, some cookie dough, lemongrass and leather comes through a bit more, a bit more earthy mineral, gets grassy and a bit harsh bitter towards the end with the mouthfeel thinning out - it dried out but the mouthfeel is a bit thin with a sense of low carbonation even though there is a slight prickliness on the tongue. The flavor and aftertaste give a slight disappointment from what the aroma promised as a great Belgian ale from the start. Easy drinking and nice, but not really worth the $4 for the small bottle- still this was quite a bit better than the tap version I had in Amsterdam.

33cl bottle. Pours a hazy copper color with a large, lasting whitish head and good lacing. Aroma is very nice and Belgian. Yeasty with sweet malt, citrus peel, hops, and spice. The flavor has very mild sweetness from pale/caramel malt, Belgian yeast, spiciness, lemon, and herbal hop notes. Tasty. Great palate - medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Very solid Belgian pale ale overall.

330ml Bottle: Gusher! Aroma of vegetables, herbs, pale malt, yeast, and light citrus. Poured yellow/gold in color with a huge, fluffy, frothy, white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Cloudy. Sparkling. Full of tiny and small particles throughout. Good lacing. Flavor is slightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of yeast, hops, herbs, and some malt. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Slightly sweet, medium bitter, herb, hop, and yeast finish is lightly dry.

The pour is a clear straw color with a full, creamy, rocky, white head which is mostly lasting and leaves lots of scattered lace. The nose is pleasant but nothing exceptional; lots of lemony citrus notes and lemon peels, a significant herbal hop notes, rosemary, light sweet rolls, white pepper, and a faint estery note. The flavor is similar with a nice balance between acidic lemon notes, herbal hop notes, and white pepper; other notes of sweet rolls, faint yeast esters, and again the same rosemary note. The palate is quenching, lively, drying, and more than medium body. The finish finally shows off the herbal bitterness, more white pepper, and a citrus acidity diminishing. I think the beer does exactly what it is going for; the quenching acidity, balancing hop presence and spice, and slight hefe tinge. Nothing really great about the beer but everything just works for this saison-ish beer.

Wow, big skunk aroma. Some lemon and butter cream once the pungent aroma wafts away. Some straw and yeast also. Nice frothy white head of fine bubbles. Light and crisp flavor with some sweet tarts, lemon and cereal grains. Moderate bitterness and dryness. A good summer brew.

Bottle. Golden beer with a cream colored head. Yeast and spice aroma. Spice and yeast flavor with light dustiness and some lemon. Medium bodied. Spice and yeast lingers with light earthiness.
