COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Urthel Samaranth 12 Quadrium Ale is a malty, full-bodied special Ale, brewed in a way that only Belgian Brewers can. Huge mouthfeel and layers and levels of flavor make Urthel Samaranth the perfect beer for the end of a meal or at the finish of a special day. And when you want something different, Urthel Samaranth 12 Quadrium Ale is with its fine bitterness, definitely something different... Try it! First brewed at Van Steenberge, now brewed at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery.

Bottle pour to Trappist glass gives dark amber color with yellowish thin but persistent head. Aroma was sour and dare I say a bit skunky. I can’t find a bottling date on this unfortunately. Taste sour, alcohol very apparent. Aftertaste medicinal, alcohol. Disappointing.

Orange-amber color. Small head, disappears quickly. Smell off liquor or something... some prunes. Sour sweet. Weird taste, almost no carbonation, a bit like wine-liquor. The taste is not bad, but this is not ’beer’ like i’m used to. This is normal. Lots of alcohol at the aftertaste, nothing hidden... The more i nip, the more i think this is not beer, or this is not normal... This beer makes my favorite abt-style goes down! Maybe have to re-try it one day... But I’m not gonna buy this again, so it have to be a gift or so...

Dark amber/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of malt, yeast, some dark fruit, & caramel; Flavor of sweet malt, yeast, caramel, hops, dark fruit (notably plums), raisons, and spice; Alcohol at the finish; Nicely balanced and complex; A solid quad - I did enjoy it.

.3l bottle from Rare Beers in Budapest. Pours a deep ruby-brown with a shiny foam head. Lots of alc wafting off this one, but in a nice way. Port, berries, molasses too. Body is tidy and thick, a touch oily and rich with alcohol. Bite from the 11% is well hidden but it warms nicely. Very clean taste that is smooth and demure. Carbonation is mild. Cherries, rum, apple. Pretty good quad, but lacks that last oomph. Still, I wish I had it around!

Golden color with not much head. Fruity aroma and malty biscuit taste. Interesting but not bad.
