11.2 oz Belgian "grenade" bottle. This one has aged the better part of two years in my closet, the last of a four pack given to me some time back. Thick toffee orange-brown color, quite opaque. The aroma is quite mild and tolerable for a beer of such fortitude, though it does gain some brandy like characteristics as it warms. The taste is sweet and rich, with a pungent, toffee-yeastyness that is quite delicious. I’d say the beer has aged quite well. I don’t think I would have given it as high of a rating when it was "fresh" in the bottle a few years back, but this is really an absolutely superb example of a Quadruple. Better get another few to age..

Pours dark copper with fine particulates in suspension. A massive, four-inch porous head kept the whole bottle from being decanted into the glass. The beige froth settled down quickly to a mostly placid surface, leaving behind some errant dots of lacework. Candied malt, grape jam, bubblegum, and dried figs in the nose. Sweetish and juicy, with a hint of alcohol. On the thick side of medium bodied, sticky, tacky and mildy syrupy. Juicy malt, dark candy sugar, raisins, grape jam, and brandy-like alcohols on the pallet. Plenty of sweetness and warming alcohol follow through, with rum-soaked raisins and more red grapes. Finishes with some mild heat on the throat, juicy malt, and plenty of residuals. Tasty and strong, but it could definately dry up a bit. Too sweet.

Brown, small head, not quite opaque but definitely hazy. Nose of candied fruits, yeast, and alcohol ... taste of candied fruits, raisins, but without the coffee, chocolate, spice complexity of my favorite quads.

Bottle @ home. Amber colour, big white head. Aroma of caramel, sweet alcohol, yeast and spices. Flavour is sweet, spicy, alcoholic, fruity, some yeast. Bitter alcohol finish. The "new" version is softer and richer in taste than the old version. With a little more balance in flavours it would be a great beer.

Bottle, Belgian Belly. Hazy amber brown colour with a thin white head. Aroma was spices, caramel and some fruit. Malty body. Flava was alcohol loaded and sweet with cloves and raisin present in the mix. Lingering dryish finish. Alcohol was not especially well hidden though which was a shame as on the whole this was really pretty good.

Deep amber orange brew with a nice sticky beige head. The aroma is quite nice. Rich sweet, lightly plummy aroma with a kiss of orange peel. There is a nice sweet Belgian yeastiness. Peppery and fruity with a soft plum/prune sweetness. The beer itself is sweet but not too sweet. Nice pear/peachiness with a rich plumminess and a bit of clove. On the back of the palate there is a light creamy palm sugar sweetness. Well balanced and quite tasty. A light lingering honeyish sweetness along the back. Warming brings up more sweet honeyed fruitiness and a nice sweet spicy yeastiness. Really tasty brew.

Aroma is a fruity yeast scent. Color is a golden amber with good carbonation and a thin tight head. Taste is rich, fruity and sweet. Starting with a full body creamy and rich. Finish comes in sweet with a dried fruit and Belgian yeast taste, then a caramel flavor. This is followed up with a sourness and an apple flavor in the after taste. This is an amazing brew, with a deep complex flavor.
