Fin rapide. Bière particulière, mais pas mal!

Poured from a 350ml bottle into a tulip glass. Pours a clear reddish brown, with a moderate khaki head that quickly dissipates, leaving a disc on the surface. Nose is caramel and dark malt, with a hint of Belgian yeast banana and clove notes. Taste is malt forward, with many different layers. Thick, creamy mouth feel, with a long finish. Just a slight touch of hops on the finish. Delicious. An outstanding quad, but not surprising coming from La Trappe.

33cl bottle poured in a Trappist glass. Pours dark brown with a thin white head which quickly dissipates. Taste is extremely sweet - caramel, bready, toffee much like Bush Noel mixed with Bombs and Grenades. Overall a good barley wine but a little flat and one dimensional. Some more depth to back the sweet notes would be nice.

33cl bottle. APPEARANCE: clear brown beer, small unstable off white head. NOSE: caramel, very sweet, little florar. TASTE: caramel, very sweet, oké, alcohol, it’s nice, but could be better for it’s ABV, alcohol warming rather clear.

Brown color with low foam. Intense aroma resulting from the combination of malt, caramel and toffee with raisins, dates, prunes and a hint of orange, accompanied by soft but strong hints of liquorice, aniseed and cinnamon. Dates on the taste, some orange, cherries, peppery spice and soft warm breath of alcohol, giving a deep and comforting end.
