Very excellent beer. Heavy with alcohol but it doesn’t bother too much. I’d have another.

26/03/2011 - 33cl bottle @ home BB: MAR/2013 (2011-124)
Little cloudy dark amber to copper red beer, light beige creamy big head, stable and adhesive. Little chunks floating around in the beer. Aroma: dried peaches, raisins, sweet caramel, alcohol, sugar, lots of ripe yellow fruits. MF: ok carbon, full body, bit syrupy texture, very numbing alcohol in the back of the throat. Taste: sweet caramel, very fruity, some hops. Ending pretty sour and a bit dry. Alcohol is well hidden in the flavour, but very present in the throat after swallowing. Aftertaste is citrus fruits and some hops. The biggest surprise was that it was by far not as sweet as I remembered it to be.

Bottle: Clear, but floaties visible, copper to amber coloured, no head to speak of; solid sweet almondy-nutty nose with alcohol, caramel and a tinge of nutmeg in the background; solid sweet flavour, accompanied by a light bitterness, full bodied; sweet walnutty finish with a brandy-like aftertaste. Heavy, but not so exciting.....

Rating from December. Pours a murky brown, with a smallish head. The aroma is a punch in the face - Cuban rum and dark fruits. The flavor is like taking a fig, soaking it in rum, and dusting it in cocoa. Boozy, but really tasty.

750 Ml bottle. Pours a dark hazy amber with soapy beige head. Aroma is very malty with notes of molasses and brown sugar and hints of dark fruit. Flavor is sweet, malty with same notes as aroma with an added mustiness, alcohole spice and white pepper. Mouthfeel is heavy body with fizzy carbonation. Overall, not bad at all.

Bottled 33cl. Hazy brown beer with a light beige head. Plum, port, walnuts and caramel being most present in the nose. Full bodied. Nice lacework. Warming on the swallow. Candy floss, plum and walnuts in the finish which is sweetish.

Enjoyed from a 0.33L bottle bought@Belgium Beers in Antwerp, march 2009. Unclear dark amber with a dense one-finger sand-colored head. Light vinous aroma, port-like. Also a pleasant whiff of soft caramelly malts and cherries. Some vague tones of earth and wood. Strong malt body, soft and mellow with a refined sweetness. Vinous fruitiness. Mild peppery bitterness. Pleasant alcohol warmth. Softly carbonated with a smooth mouthfeel. Balanced and well rounded, a really nice one.
