COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Urthel Samaranth 12 Quadrium Ale is a malty, full-bodied special Ale, brewed in a way that only Belgian Brewers can. Huge mouthfeel and layers and levels of flavor make Urthel Samaranth the perfect beer for the end of a meal or at the finish of a special day. And when you want something different, Urthel Samaranth 12 Quadrium Ale is with its fine bitterness, definitely something different... Try it! First brewed at Van Steenberge, now brewed at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery.

Judging by the other comments, I must have a bad batch. All four bottles. Upon opening the bottle...ugh.... D M S. Cooked cabbage. The beer itself tastes good. I will try again and re-rate if the veggie odor is gone.

33cl bottle from La Maison Belge, Puerto de la Cruz. Pours slightly hazy amber with a small off-white head. Fruity, malty and hoppy aroma with candi sugar, dried fruits and hints of yeast and alcohol. Sweet, full-bodied and vinous. Fairly soft carbonation, Lovely, desserty beer for dark and cold evenings, but enjoyable anytime. Well balanced, usually this would be way to sweet for me, but it somehow isn’t. Excellent and delicious quad!

One of the richest quad I have ever had. Almost a different taste with every sip, really enjoyed this beer!

A - A 3 finger rocky head, tan in color. A clear ruby orange body. Uniform horizontal and vertical lacing throughout. S - Sweet doughy bread, honey, toasted grain, Christmas spices-cinnamon most notable. Pears, oranges, pineapple, T - Heavily candied/caramelized pale malt. Honey comes through very strong. Bruised apples, pears, pineapple glaze. The spices seem to hit every corner of the mouth and join in with the alcohol to burn the throat. Yeast is way more prominent in the flavor. It almost envelopes everything. Finishes spicy. M - Full bodied. Heavy carbonation but rich and creamy and at times a bit syrupy. This is the oddest Quad I’ve had to date. It reminds me more of a heavier Triple. There’s alot going on in this beer. Very complex yet incredibly drinkable. I loved it. It’s almost if there was ingredients in this beer that I’ve never tasted before. Serving type: bottle 02-06-2011

bottle on the house of Backdoor Cafe, Gent/put in front of my nose as I was cautiously working my way up from a lighter beer menu. Pours a heavy deep orange-amber. EU-hops, almost no alcohol, quad caramels, impressive thick mouthfeel. Most drinkable entente cordiale between amped abv, US-recipe hop dosages and inescapable Belgian caramelised fruits since DSB Shark Pants.

En riktigt god belgare. Har väntat ett år på att att öppna denna flaska vilket gjorde den gott. Balanserad och väldigt smakrik och fyllig i sin smak.

Urthel Samaranth turns out to be a pleasant surprise. The flavors are to my opinion better if it is served a little bit warmer than the recommended drinking temperature of 6-8°C.

Bottle @ Circolo s. Eugenio.

330ml bottle (Janoinen Lohi, Helsinki, Kalakierros 2013)
Pure english mustard aroma. I’m either going to sneeze or cry. Woh, that’s clearly a strong beer. Anna even got nail-polish on the first sip. Her expression was a picture. Goya, rather than Münch. After that I was surprised how mellow it was. Sweet and soft, but wafts of alcohol do impose occasionally. Gentle toasty roast. Nice gentle bitter finish. Scary at first, but it worked in the end.
