And when you want something different, Urthel Samaranth 12 Quadrium Ale is with its fine bitterness, definitely something different... Try it! First brewed at Van Steenberge, now brewed at Koningshoeven - La Trappe brewery.

Pours a small off- white frothy head that mostly diminishes. Body is copper colored and sparkling. Aroma contains light bread, roasted malts, caramel, grapefruit, dough, grape and raisin, spices and alcohol. Flavor is sweet and light bitter, going to sweet and to finish in bitter. Body is full and syrupy, with soft carbonation. The total is a bit boozy, there's too much alcohol in it for my taste. Still having a cold, so I might not have picked up all aroma's. I'll try it again another time, but give it some more time to mature.

Bottle. Brown light hazy. Malty dark bready, dried fruity nose. Some figs, plums, malts. Full bodied, sweetness, lots of dry fruit flavours. Deep, flavourful. Like a sweet dry fruity cake. Almost too sweet for me now, good tho.

Bottled, 33 cl. Opal reddish brown one with some sediments and a creamy, finger thick remaining beige pillow on its top. Smell of dried fruits, caramel and raised pie. Refined aroma dominated by dried fruits and brown sugar escorted by alcohol, some choco and earth, texture is syrupy. Lingering and dry, peppery alcoholy, earthy, tart fruity finish. Fine as expected.

Lore (1476) - Budapest, HUNGARY - JUL 11, 2015
marvellous appearance of dark amber-to brown colour with ruby notes and a huge, pillowy, yellowish-beigeish off-white head, which lasts for several minutes; aroma of raisin and other dried fruits (like plum and maybe figs), hints of vanilla, minimal earthy notes, and some alcohol; taste of dried berries, plum jam, some vanilla, anise, alcoholic warmth, as well as large amount of malty sweetness, which is perfectly balanced by resiny hops; excellent quadrupel

Bottle from Konzum, Dubrovnik. Clear amber/brown body with a thick off-white head. Very lively carbonation. Good lacing. Aroma of toffee apple and maple syrup. Flavour of figs, caramel and stewed pear. Medium body with a sticky mouthfeel. Very fizzy. Sweet and boozy - a beer to have with (or in place of) sticky toffee pudding.

A punchy ABV-fist in a velvet glove. Creamy, orange-y, cognac-y quadruple. -          Nose: Earthy/ leafy/ plums dominant, with a touch of marmalade/ mandarin vodka. -          Body: Creamy feel belying strength. Slightly cognac-y/ Cointreau-y touch. Pork-y meat touch. -          Finish: Slightly candied one, following orange and brown sugar strains throughout. Nice? but like comedy sometimes, I would have preferred it to be just that shade darker (in colour and taste).
