3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from old backlog notes 07. Pours a hazy orange/reddish/brown color with a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have caramel, yeast, banana, stone fruit, raisins, mild spice, some alcohol, a touch less body than I expected, but the flavor is good.

4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
It has a deep reddish burgundy colored body with a small beige head. The body also has a very hazy or cloudy appearance with lots of yeast sediment in it. Its head is short lived and leaves just a small ring of foam on top, around the edge of the glass. Lacing is very minimal. In the nose I get nice fruity esters of golden raisons, figs, fig cake, liquorish and candy sugar. There is also a mellow brandy like boozy note that surrounds all the nice fruitiness. With complexity like this it’s hard to find a place to start. It has a deep rich full body with complex bready and fruity maltiness. Within it there are nice notes of golden raisons, dark sweet cherries, fig/fig cake, red liquorish, caramel and some raw grain maltiness. These notes all slowly reveal themselves with each sip and they are embraced by a pleasant brandy like warmth. The finish is still some what sweet but there are some dryer earthy yeast tones moving in here as well as some lightly spicy hop notes that bring mild bitterness. Its texture has a good firm smooth feel with plenty of soft carbonation to keep thing lively and set up the palate for the next sip.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Brown amber hazy pour, foamy top sites nog last long. Dark malt, Brown sugar and caramel mixed with plums and ripe red fruit, a bit of cough drop and hops. Full body and long finish in which the fruity sweetness dominates and the alcohol rears its head.

2.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Hazelnut brown color, with a fizzy, soon vanishing small head. Aromas rely pretty much on toffee, honey, sweet malts, plums, walnuts and hints of stinging alcohol. Taste begins with earthy malts, and wood, while malts soon turn sweeter into a toffeeish, molasse direction, along with chocolate and cane sugar - very sweet overall. Beer keeps it balance due to wooden notes and warming, slightly aggressive alcohol, which adds a lot of depth to the sweetness. Alcohol gets very recognizable in the finish, bitter notes on the palate among the overall sweetness. Lacks still balance, at first this is just too sweet, then alcohol becomes too present on its own, also this beer isn’t very diversified.

5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
Ottimo esempio di barley wine. Il corpo è strutturato e in bocca si percepiscono chiaramente decise note di frutta secca, cioccolato e marzapane, ma soprattutto note vinose. Da non perdere!
