JAF737300 (733), New York, New York, USA Jul 23, 2007 From a growler filled at Bierkraft this strong ale pours hazy light brown witha medium head. The aroma is sweet and spicey. You get a palate flavor of sweet amltinesswith notes of raison and overripe peach. The finish is full but you can taste the high abv.
BOLTZ7555 (528), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Oct 10, 2008 Aroma of raisin, fig, brown sugar, and caramel. Dark garnet pour with a decent one inch off-white head. Begins with an alcohol kick, then opens itself up to the other flavors; dark fruit, spice, belgian yeast, and molasses. A bit sugary (once past the alcohol burn) and not quite as complex or flavorful as the best-in-style. blklab2007 (570), Connecticut, USA Oct 4, 2008 11.2 oz. bottle poured into an official urthel tulip glass has a lightly orange amber color with a nice thick two finger head that laced the glass nicely. aroma has sweet malts, spiced Belgian yeast, light alcohol, and a bouquet of fruits. moth feel is medium thick with sturdy carbonation. flavor has a nice dose of sweetened malt layered with spices, Belgian yeast, and hefty fruit. a very inviting flavor. on the sweeter side but it works nicely to balance the spices. rds (117), USA Sep 30, 2008 Pours dark brown. with a hint of burgundy, carrying notes of fruit and spice. A wonderfully balanced brew with both bitternees and maltiness, in a perfectly suspended carbonated emulsion. SamGamgee (593), Santa Cruz, California, USA Sep 27, 2008 33cl bottle. Slightly hazy light brown with a medium head that leaves lasting lace and foam. Fruity, caramel, candi sugar aroma. Sweet, quite fruity in a bright and slightly tart way. A little brown sugar in the malt department. Med-full bodied and smooth carbonation. A bit of alcohol is mostly hidden by the massive sweetness. Pleasurable, but not a top quad by any means. Surprisingly smooth and drinkable for the amount of alcohol it packs though. jujubeast6000 (503), Houston, Texas, USA Sep 21, 2008 (bottle): Pours a strong brown body, hard to see through. Average head, tan-whitish, diminishing. Heavy aroma of grape juice, that’s all I get, and not very strong. Alcoholy grapey taste, heavy, but not too bad an aftertaste. Very strong mouthfeel, a little fizzy but not soft. As it warms up, more fruit flavor, but also much alcohol flavor. A little smoother.
