fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Dec 29, 2003 Cloudy amber color; frothy head. Good ale, quite malty, with some caramel, round mouthfeel, with a late fruitness. Sweet and malty. jfm (1694), Holbæk, Denmark Dec 8, 2003 Nice citrusy aroma. The color is hazy golden with a nice white head. The taste is citrus and yeast. A little to bitter imho. tallmatt67 (99), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 24, 2003 (bottle) Orange-amber color, I couldn't determine clarity because I had a "gusher". Spicy, peach and bready aroma. Largish medium bodied ale leads with thick malt with caramel, fruit, spicy alcohol and candi sweetness. Firm bitterness and a flavorful long finish with persistent toasty malt. Complex, full, and excellent. DaSilky1 (1932), San Diego, California, USA Nov 21, 2003 my 1000th rating. this looks exactly like the other Urthel beer i rated right before. Orange and hazy. thin head. Aroma was a tad different though..a little subdued chewy apricots...sugar, fudge?..hmmm...yeasty flavor profile...cob-webs? tangerine skins...yeast...a little bitterness...I'm just really anxious to hear my 1000th rating song that will play right about now.... hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA Nov 18, 2003 This beer had a small sized off-white head with fine-small sized bubbles that mostly dissipated. The body was carbonated and cloudy with an orange hue.The nose was malty, fruity, spicy, sweet and a hint of floral hops. The flavor was sweet, sour, somewhat tart and fruity. The palate was very smooth and somewhat watery and thin with a light-medium body. The lacing was fair with this beer. thedm (3833), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA Nov 18, 2003 This brew put up a fight right from the get go. Before I could even get the top off it was foaming up and out the bottle with the cap still on it. It took me 6 minutes to get the damn cap off! Finally I was able to pour the remainder into my mug. The head is still settling down. Talk about long lasting! It was made up of fine to medium sized off-white colored bubbles. And did I mention they were long lasting? Hmmm? Finally it has diminished and left behind a fair lacing and a softly carbonated yeasty hazy orange brown colored body. The aroma is of a nice belgian strong with notes of fruit, malt, and vinuous alcohol. The mouthfeel was very smooth and doughy with a mild tingle to it and a lingering dough finish. The flavor was doughy with notes of spice and very mild clove. Very mellow and interesting flavor. JorisPPattyn (5155), Antwerpen, Belgium Nov 11, 2003 Huge cream-coloured, dense head; hazy orange beer, lively carbonation. Fresh-herbal & spicey nose. Pine-like hops, aroma like a herbal, yes, alcoholic tonicum. Taste both very spicey and hoppy, but sweet underbuild by roasted hops, toast-like. Whiff of honey flavour. Each new sop gives a lemony restart. Medium bodied. Alcohol's there, but subdued. Misses a longer aftertaste. Honesty compells me to concede I like this beer better and better. I think it's still being developped. This 75cl sample virtually even misses the Van Steenberge thumbprint, bravo! heykevin (1269), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Oct 22, 2003 Attractive hop aroma (styrian goldings?). Hop juice character, tastes dry-hopped. Shimmering malt beneath a good strong hopping. A hint of bubblegum and honey. Excellent belgian blonde.
