Pours a lightly hazy amber with a frothy off white head - okay lacing. Aroma is very sweet cream-caramel, toffee and light fruitiness. Fine mouthfeel. Falvour is lovely heavy caramel, but with a good dose of hoppiness to give balance to the proceedings. KimJohansen (6921), Copenhagen V, Denmark

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 5, 2008 Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy very light brown with a big off-white head and a sharp spicey, alcoholic and malty aroma. The flavor is sweet with caramel and ripe fruit most dominant with some spices to be tasted too. Very nice but just like most other belgian strong ales. A nice caramelly, hoppy finish. A good beer, but just too standard kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

hazy orange, thin white head, nice horsey aroma that fades into nice spices on a sweet carmel base, rich sweet fruity flavor, nice spicy esters fill out the flavor profile, more subtle complexities than I can describe, an great afternoon session beer, best a bit chilled - the aroma fills out nicely when it warma but the flavor receeds, the Urthel never fails to impress

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 24, 2007 Pours a cloudy amber color with a thin white head. Interesting aroma of oranges and leather. Good flavor of oranges, yeast and leather, sadly, there seems to be traces of a mild oxydation, it feels like wet cardboard but it’s not a dominating element.. The body is light to medium with a creamy texture and soft carbonation. Not bad but this could be the weak link in the Urthel chain. Wim (1288), Turnhout, Belgium
