Dark amber with off-white head, excellent lacing. Moderate malt and hops, with a taste of toffee and soriander. Well balanced beer, too strong in alcohol. veronika (410), Sweden Jan 1, 2005 Red/brown, ok head. Aroma is yeasty and fruity with floral notes. Flavor from cherry, vanilla, mint, cream and some rabarb in the finish. larsniclas (3383), Gothenburg, Sweden Dec 28, 2004 Draught at The Rover, Gothenburg, Sweden.
Nutbrown with a thick, beige head.
Really sweet with loads of malt.
Grassy, fruity with some fresh toffee. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 22, 2004 750 ml bottle - Whole Foods,Austin, Tx. Pours a dark goiden to light orange pour with a frothy white head. Aroma has some cake mix sweet biscuity notes to it. The same biscuity maltiness carries over to the flavor as well. A heavy blanket of yeast settles in after awhile but still lets some sweet honey notes make their way through. Mouthfel is thick and creamy and the frothy pour is kept to a minimum unlike an other Urthel I had this past summer. CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Dec 21, 2004 Hazy light copper brown color with a thick off-white and thinly lacing head. Aroma is semi-sweet, bready, and yeasty with a hint of licorice. Body starts with a mild sweetness and light complexity with plenty of Belgian yeastiness. Nice and drinkable but could use a touch more yeasty spice balance. Thanks for sharing skaughty! goldtwins (4078), Nesconset, New York, USA Dec 20, 2004 Poured a hazy brownish orange with a long lasting medium sized white head. Aroma of peaches/fruit, yeasty, dough. Flavor continues with the fruits and a light "tang" at the end. Finishes with mild spice. Medium body and warming. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA Dec 11, 2004 Average Belgian in many ways. Solid malting, with a bit of alcohol slipping through. The flavor is a little butterscotch a little bread. Finish is sweet and moderate in duration, with a touch of acid.
