Thick and creamy, beautiful waves of foam seem almost iridescent atop this marmalade orange body. Despite the crowding sediment this is another gorgeous brew from Urthel, highlighted by superb lacing. The nose is attractive and unique as I have come to expect from Hildegard’s craft. The delightful smell of fromage blanc lends a smooth, fresh character accompanied by a slight lactic sourness. Scents of honey and butter add to that rich and sweet sensation, while the subtle notes of coriander, clove and banana lend additional complexity. The mouthfeel is more textural than flavorful, fluffy as whipped cream. Sadly a certain blandness takes over. Strawberry, caramel, plum and toast are apparent but don’t seem decisive enough. The experience is not completely amiss as this brew retains quite a rich body, a buttery yeasty quality that remains very drinkable. Finishing sweet with a hint of coffee, this a decent beer with enough unique accents to make it worth seeking out.

bottle (bb 06/07/2006) thanks Jerohen, rating represents vintage. Amber almost brown cloudy bear, with small white head. Tastes sweet. Flavour is complex, though mainly caramel. Not a long finish, which is a shame. In general, a very good brew, but a little bit too sweet for my taste.

Bottle. Amber beer, big foamy head. Fruity aroma, carbonation. Flavour is amber-like, sweet malts, fruity, caramel. Too much carbonation and not my cup of beer.

Bottle. Pale amber with a nice bubbly creamy white head. Lots of toffee in the aroma and toasty malt. Sweet toffee/caramel flavour with a soft bitterness.

Bottle @ Yespr tasting.
[thank you, Yespr]
Pours a lightly hazy amber with a frothy off white head - okay lacing. Aroma is very sweet cream-caramel, toffee and light fruitiness. Fine mouthfeel. Falvour is lovely heavy caramel, but with a good dose of hoppiness to give balance to the proceedings.
