3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nice amber coloured body with a mainly lasting light tan head. Some caramel on the aroma followed by some moderate hop notes. Light earthy hop taste , medium body and low carbonation. Not too much malt characters showing but a fairly easy drinking beer.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
From BA: back in 2007. No mention on the bottle who brews it, but it does say brewed in Oxfordshire for Ushers on the rear label. So I am assuming it is from Wychwoods kettles.
Good solid brown 500ml bottle, best before April 2008, drank August 2007.
Poured into a Bateman’s pint sleeve glass, it looked fine, a good creamy head on top of an amber, teak red body.
The aroma is of hops (the label says Goldings) and fairly sweet malts.
The taste is very malty, full and heavy. The mouthfeel is thick and has a staying power, the maltiness hangs around.
A most enjoyable ale, I will be having one of these again, that’s for sure.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Dark amber colored with a disappearing off-white head. Quite heavy sweet malty and spicy aroma with cookie notes. Malt and spices in the flavor as well, typical English though more flavorfull than the average English ale.

2.2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle (from Sainsburys). Slightly unpleasant burnt plastic nose but the main focus here is strong malt and nutty toffee with a fair level of bitterness in the finish. High carbonation made the body seem rather thin and combined with the unpleasant plastic aroma spoilt what was otherwise a fairly decent base.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle from Sainsburys. Pours amber with a firm off-white head that leaves good lacing on the glass. Strongly carbonated. Excellent toffee malt aroma. Flavour starts malty but moves to a lingering bitter finish. Not bad but could do with being a little less carbonated and a little more complex.
