"English Table Beer."
Available filtered and bottled.
Contract brewed for Refresh UK. From 2000 to Summer 2004 by Burtonwood. From Summer 2004 by Wadworth.
"A distinctive ale crafted from a judicious blend of Pale, Crystal and Vienna malts to creat a Rotwein hue. Ruby Ale has a vinous, full bodied flavour and a perfectly balanced subtle bitterness. The rich aroma is characteristic of these distinctive hop varieties. Brewed from Fanfare malted barley, Fuggles and Styrian Golding hops."

Amber coloured beer with a light brown medium sized head. Malty, vinous taste. Slightly sweet start with a light bitter finish. Had this with a wonderful grouse dinner. Excellent to the food.

Pours a intruiging slightly oily looking, murky dark almost opaque amber colour with a fine bubbled medium size shortish lasting beige head. Aroma is mainly fruity malt with a hint of something medicinal. Palate is smooth and medium bodied, slightly cloying with low carbonation. Flavour is medium strong molasses and generic cola sweet toated grainy malt. The bitterness seems added on like an afterthought appearing late in the finish as an over roasted almost burnt malt with little to none hop bitterness.

Dalle (1145) - Skørping, DENMARK - MAY 16, 2005
Bottle. Red-brown with a medium-sized off-white head, nice lace. Quite fruity-sweet, raisins, prunes, biscuit, madeira, little earthy, a beer for christmas og desert or....

turbothy (1141) - Bonn, GERMANY - MAY 21, 2005
Pours reddish amber with little or no head at all. Aroma is sweet and earthy, mouthfeel is a bit thin and the taste, while not very big, is pleasant and vinous.

A very wine-like red ale with strong hop profile - I choose this one instead of a glass of wine.

Nowhere near Fullers Vintage Ales but definately a very nice English Strong Ale! Well balanced and firmly malty ending a long pleasant bitter finish.

Opaque ruby rd colour (duh) with a good, lasting creamy head. Big fruity and vinuous aroma. Flavour is both malty and hoppy, so i guess it’s well balanced. Texture is quite thick. There is a bit of alcohol in the finish. Dangerously drinkable.

mullet (849) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - APR 26, 2005
Ruby colour (surprisingly), ugly yellow clumpy head which sticks around. Not much of anything in the aroma - yeastiness dominates, toasty malt, diacetyl and a distinct gingeriness as it gets to room temperature. There’s a bit of rusty hop flavour, then an intensely flabby-sweet malt character hits you, with hints of sultana and marzipan. Bitterness is masked, but it’s there because I could taste it after eating some chocolate cake. Didn’t impress me all that much, though these pasteurised, bottled English ales rarely do.

A deep flavour accompanied by the right hoppyness and nothing disturbing. Don’t drink it too cold.
