Usually I donít even waste my time rating these beers, but a buddy of mine tried convincing me that this was a drinkable beer. Make a long story short, I had a beer to shut him up and it was so bad that I felt the need to rate its awfulness on here. Itís sad to say that Iíve probably had worse, but just a watery tasteless beer.

12 oz can. clear straw color with a small to medium white head. Aroma of grains and some corn adjunct. Aroma is faint, reminds me of a macro. Taste is also like a light macro- grainy with corn, and not much else. Watery. Still better than BMC pale lagers though. I bought this because the can said it was the first beer to be sold after prohibition. Iím glad I donít have to drink much of it.

One work. Skunk. More watery than water if possible, like someone dumped spoiled grape juice or sauerkraut in the tank. Only the smallest bit better than nothing in that it does have just the smallest hint of a yellow color. But even that is questionable. The worst EVER. The worst 3rd world brewed beer isnít this bad.

A straw colored pale lager. This was a veggie beer, no meat to the body.Lots of malt on this one.It was one of those beers you drink one and fall asleep.Boring nothing good here except the appearance.

On tap at El Bait shop. Pale yellow with a medium poofy white head of rapid reticence. Faint lager aroma, but only a suggestion. Thin watery and cold. This has the grainy adjuncts that You want in a classic retro. Iím sure there are folks in NY who like this the same way we in Omaha like our Storz. Nostalgia is goodstalgia.

Terrible, terrible sour and stale taste. I had it on tap from the Matt Brewery, so at itís freshest it tasted stale. The appearance is clean and clear, sort of like water......

Chance to try a version of a once proud brew. Well, at least old time, if not that proud. Pale gold, slight head fades quick. Slight aroma of corn with a hint of artificial honey. Flavor is sweet adjunct, with absolutely nothing on the finish. Maybe a bit of drying bitterness, but that might just be my imagination looking for something. Not a good beer, but by no means as nasty as many of the ratings make it out to be.

Iím not going to say that this is a great beer, but if you are comparing it to a microbrew, youíre really comparing apples and oranges. If, however, you are comparing it to comparable beers (i.e. light american lagers that are dirt cheap), I donít think you can go wrong with a UC. Would I serve it to someone trying to impress them? No. But when youíre sitting at the end of the dock on a hot day and just want something to quench your thirst, UC is pretty darn good. And you canít beat the price (if youíre in Upstate NY anyway).

This a very inconsistent brand, Iíve had it when there is definite beer taste and Iíve had it when there is no taste. Cheap, but for a local beer, it could be so much better.
