Very good black, well balanced beer with solid taste of roasted malts. Hints of coffee and dark chocolate, soft palate and mild aftertaste (maybe even a bit too mild).

Kaatuu lasiin lähes sysimustana vaahdon ollessa noin kahden sormen paksuinen. Haju on tuhdin maltainen, ennen kaikkea ruisleipäinen ja suklainen. Löytyy siitä myös hieman kahvia, yrttisyyttä, maisuutta ja tummaa hedelmääkin joukosta. Harva doppelbock pääsee yhtä tuhtiin maltaisuuteen hajussa. Maku on jälleen melko jykevä, ruisleipää, suklaata ja kahvia hyvässä harmoniassa, tukena hieman tummaa hedelmää. Suutuntuma on melko täyteläinen ja pistelevän hiilihappoinen. Jopa turhankin hyökkäävä omaan makuun. Maistuva, maltainen ja tuhti olut. Suomalaiset osaavat suht hyvin saksalaistyylien teon, tässä todiste siitä.

50cl bottle. Pitch black light head that vanishes fast. Aroma has deep malt, cholocade and coffee. Nice balance.

Dark brown, black in glass, big frothy head disappers by bubbles becoming bigger and bursting, head is beige, bit lacing. Aroma has bread, earthy notes, light roasting, vegetable. Medium body, soft feel, dry and bit roasted which stays to medium long finish, soft carbonation, bit licorice, coffee. Not bad , I liked the dry roasting here.

Pours black with medium-sized but quickly fading frothy head. Aroma of strong dark maltiness with notes of coffee, rye bread, salted licorice and even a hint of smoke. Taste is light sweet and very roasty. The rich malty profile is very promiment - flavours of coffee and other elements from the dark malty theme appear. The palate is medium bodied, could maybe be a bit fuller and would also work if a bit stronger. Still, this is a nice, roasted bock with a strong malty backbone.

Aroma has roasted notes, some coffee and licorice. Flavour has roasted malt, coffee, some peaty notes, slightly salty licorice and hints of pea soup. A non‐disturbing feeling of alcohol on some sips. Exactly what I expected: a stronger version of their Schwartz. And I like this one too.

Bottle from Alko. Part of small brewey beers selection spring 2013. Opaque black colour, small off-white head. Aroma has roasted malts and dark chocolate. Taste is roasted malts, coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and some lactose. Nice full body, can’t taste any alcohol. Tasty beer and should be a VaSP regular.

Pours dark brown with off-white head. Aroma is of roasted malt, chocolate and licorice. Flavour is medium bitter, roasted and dark chocolate.

Bottled (from Alko Prisma, Vaasa). Deep coppery brown colour with a small slightly off-white head. Aroma is roasted malts, some toffee and mild chocolate/coffee as well. Flavour is roasted malts, some slight bitterness along with mild chocolate and coffee. A bit thin as for the palate, but otherwise rather nice!

0.5 l bottle from Alko. Dark mahagony color. Aromas of toffee, cholate and some coffee. Sweetish taste with toffee, toasted bread, chocolate and raisins. Medium body, perhaps a bit watery mouthfeel. Nicely restrained roastiness, tasty but not aggressive.
