COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Beer brewed with birch leaves.

Prykmestar Suvi syntyi haasteesta tehdä Suomen Olutseuralle 20-vuotisjuhlan kunniaksi nimikkoolut.

{thoughts} A terrifically crisp and refreshing summer beer built on a slim, pils-like malt frame with lemon accents. An odd mustard aroma and birch-like retronasals complicate the affair, but it remains an enjoyable beer even without a distinctly positive centerpiece.

{elements} Medium gold hue, sparkling; fading white froth. Crisp bright aroma begins as lemon curd and sweet pastries; a strange, but not unpleasant, yellow mustard scent eventually emerges. Medium-light sweetness, full and crisp acidity, medium-light bitterness; fades into a carbonation prickle and bright birch-like flavors. High carbonation, medium-light body, silky texture. 50 cl bottle @ Kahdet Kasvot.

50 cl bottle. Pours clear golden, thin white head. Aroma is sweet malty and hint of fruits. Flavour is nice and sweet malty with a long finish. Bit watery. Enjoyable and very drinkable. Could not notice any birch though.

Bottle 50 cl. Poured golden in colour with thin white head. Fruity and slightly woody aroma, perhaps some birch it is. Slightly malty and buttery aroma also. Hay and grassy bitterness in flavour with some floral notes. Slightly bitter finish with some sticky notes. Light sweety fruityness in aftertaste accompanied with malty taste.

Tätä onkin tehnyt jo mieleni kokeilla jonkin aikaa. Suvi on kultainen väriltään ja muodostaa hieman valkoista vaahtoa. Tuoksu on viljaisen maltainen ja mahlainen. Maussa on leipää, ruohoista humalointia ja saunavihtaa. Jälkimaultaan hieman katkera. Melko pehmeä ja hieman kuiva olut.

0.5 l bottle, thanks hanniku! Golden color. Malty, grainy, flowery and grassy aroma with notes of corn. Malty, honeiysh flavor with herbal-woody finish. Slightly woody and tea like palate. There is delicate but obvious grassy-flowery-herbal twist which I guess come from birch. Integeresting experiment!

Bottled. Clear golden beer, white head. Some malts and birch on the nose. Sweetish taste is moderately malty and then there’s also some birch to be found too. Taste has a light bitterness in the end. Well balanced, light but not watery. Not bad, afterall this is named after my fiance Suvi. :)

500ml bottle (Eat&Joy)
Rich orange, decent head. Herby, grassy aroma. Crisp palate, pleasant carbonation. Sweet fruity syrupy retronasals, that’s presumably the birch - though they don’t really fit in with the beeriness. Fairly simple clean taste. Simply slightly husky grainy malts, barky hoppiness heading towards a touch of liquorice. Some simple grassy finish. Pretty drinkable drink, good thirst quencher, but definitely quite curious. Good effort, interesting brew.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear deep golden with a white head. Malty and a little spicy nose. Medium body, strange candy notes, a little caramel and a rather hoppy finish. 170910

Bottle at ChrisO’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011. Clear, light yellow pour with a fine, white head. Slight tart nose? Weird. Mild malt flavor. Light bodied with average carbonation. Weird finish, too, slight metal and mild, grainy malts. Not great.
