4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 armando629 (1939) - Budapest, HUNGARY - FEB 29, 2008
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2009 0.33 l bottle. Hazy brown color with a nice head. Aroma is sweety roasted malt and some fruity nose. The roasted malt dominates the flavour (coffe and chocolate things) on a nice caramel and fruity-raisin taste. Good, balanced carbonation, complex beer. Nice aftertaste with some fine herbal notes, toffee and caramel
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Btankey (11) - USA - FEB 21, 2008
Disappointed, just a tad more body & complexity than a Newcastle plus some added bitterness. Decent finish, but the midpalate is very lacking.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 harrisoni (9609) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - FEB 5, 2008
On tap at The Rake, Borough Market. Belgian yeast, ok dar malts on aroma. Slightly sour on aroma balances sweetish malts with a little more sour on the finish. Decent brune with some character.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 rane (691) - Nibe, DENMARK - JAN 31, 2008
Bottle. Dark reddish brown with huge and long lasting pale brown head. Aroma sweet malty and bread after a while in the glass dried fruits.
Taste very sweet and malty, again the dried fruits gets prominent after a while. Well hidden alcohol. All in all a nice beer but maybe lacking some complexity.

Dark brown pour, thick one-inch white head. Nose of dark fruit. Sweet and malty taste, very much a dubbel. Pleasantly effervescent mouthfeel. Excellent.

This one is much better than the blond... excellent color with minimal head. Nothing special about this one and is an average Dubbel or brown. Alcohol is blended very well and has a rich medley of dried fruit and light chocolate tones. Definately worth trying.
4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 goozen (1783) - Leiden, NETHERLANDS - JAN 19, 2008
Bottle 0,33ltr: This is pretty great Abbey Dubbel version i ever drunk, some driedfruits, coffee and chocolate taste in it.
4.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20 GreatLibations (1771) - Last Supper, Arizona, USA - JAN 7, 2008
Pours dark brown w/ a tall, semi creamy froth. Superb hangtime dissipating to a full silky canopy and a fluffy ring. Mild aromas of malted dark fruits. Medium nectar w/ good carbonation and very expansive on the palate like Champagne. A roast character comes alive first and paves the way for a slew of complexites. Dried darkfruits, roasted coffee bean, bakers cocoa, vanilla, tree bark, and cola. The finish is bittered nicely leaving behind a kiwi acidity to cleanse the palate. I can’t believe this brew has 8% abv. VD Brune is refined, complex, and very well balanced. I highly recommend it.
