Il tipico genere di birra che credevo di essermi lasciato alle spalle. Generica, metallica, oreorii

Bottle 33cl. A dark brown beer with good head and good lacing. Smell is spicy and toasted like. Aroma is medium sweet with dry and bitter finish, the body is creamy with oak notes, diacetyl, caramel, fermented apple. Difficult to detect what spices have been used, perfumed pepper or toasted cardamom.

(Rating #3454)

Sample from a 330ml grenade bottle. Ive had this one before mind you, what did you think this is amateur hour over here? Chestnut brown with a soapy beige head. Spicy, nutty aroma. An awesome Belgian Bruin, Creamy and smooth, awesome malt depth. Dark fruit tastes are well incorporated and balanced. Awesome.

Bottle. Dark brown in color - cloudy with particles floating. Malty alcohol aroma. Pretty good. A bit sweet. Mostly malty. A bit overcarbonated.

Tasting from Apr’ 2008.
Produces definitively brown, no crimson, no ruby, no chestnut, no shades of anything, just brown. Opaque, a lot of protein in suspension floats about its fine bead. A creamy, off white and tight head of foam dons it, is steadfast and I’d have to say leaves the most wonderful of lace upon the glass. Deep, transgressive maltiness to the olfactories. A savoury whiff of Merlot and oaked sherry, damp soil, yeasty dough, warm toffee and a lot of chocolate with a good higher alcohol spice. Deeply vinous, medicinal alcohol bite and warmth in the mouth is alarming. Fluffy, dusty cocoa otherwise, some biscuity malt, spiced, seems like nutmeg (?) coming through, woody and dusty old oak barrel mix on the swallow underlies the vinous qualities. It definitely heats up the stomach. The aroma fuels the aftertaste and it lingers like something of such higher strength. Warming, but not altogether in all. And as an Abbey Dubbel it lacks unity! 330ml bottle pours a very dark brown with reddish undertones and a small off-white head. Aroma is of chocolate, raisin, malt and bread. Flavor is very good and well balanced. Finish is also very good and leaves notes of chocolate and coffee on the palate.

11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a black color with a decent white head and some nice lacing. Aroma of citrus zest, malt, bread, spice, and yeast on the pour. Analogous flavors w/ a slight alcoholic burn. Medium bodied. Hits the tongue a little hard w/ a slight carbon texture. Hints of coffee on the finish. Overall, a nice brew.
