Nevelig, donkerbruin. Schuim verdwijnt zeer snel. Aroma van gebrande mouten, pure chocolade, koffie, caramel. Licht bitter, licht zoet. Beetje droog in de mond. Medium body, medium co2.

It appears cloudy dark red-brown with a tan head. The aroma has (red) fruits, caramel, chocolate and licorice. Despite that the taste isn’t heavy but medium sweet with light sour and light bitter tones. Because of this and the creamy mouthfeel it reminds me of the Bière du Boucanier Red. An enjoyable abbey beer.

Head is average, frothy, off white and diminishes mostly. Body is hazy Brown. Aroma contains moderate malts (cookie, hay, roasted malts, molasses), light hops (grass, citrus fruits), light yeasts (soap) and grape, raisin, peach, cherry, tawny port, licorice, cola and spices. Flavor is light acidic, then sweet and finally light bitter. Body is medium with creamy texture and soft carbonation. Quite a good Dubbel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured in my favorite Grimbergen chalice. I’ve been listening about this beer for a long time so, I was able to find it in my new favorite beer store in Switzerland "Au Grain D’Orge". Something like "At the Barley Beans" :). Back to the beer. It’s a classic Belgian Double (Dubbel) beer, first of all, quite good one! It has a brown-red amber color and smells like coffee, chocolate and brown malt. Quite good taste that would be better if we could feel less alcohol. In average, satisfying beer. Looking forward to taste their Quad one. [ BA Review @ 11/13/2009 ]

Balanced and medium body. Acid malty aroma. Taste is fruity with a little bit of toasted malt. Alcohol appears a little bit too.

Mørk brun klar med høyt kremete beige skum som ligger helt ut. Karamell, floralsk og syrlig lukt mot eple. Fyldig, søtlig alkohol og smak av krydderier. Fin livlig kullsyre, kort

pours cloudy if not murky light brown, orange and grey tint, with a frothy and creamy very bubbly light beige head, good retention and strong lacing. minty bubblegum, spicy and fruity belgian classic strain - trappist-like, shy fruitiness - berries and cinnamon sprinkled apples, spicy caramel, hint of sweetness - golden candi and brown sugar, hint of tobacco, lots of pepper. lively and foamy carbonation - settling, light body, assertive if not pungent woodsy-grassy-spicy finish. classic yet average belgian dubbel. their grand cru had a lot more to offer, malt-wise.
