COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The new masterpiece from the Val-Dieu brewery. A very complex and full-bodied beer with a long aftertaste. The brewmaster advices to cellar the beer for a year for it to unfold its full potential.

Roasty sweet aroma. Deep amber with white head. Sweet roasty flavor with a hint of mint...am I tasting things? A bit too sweet, but not bad. Notes: Zythos ’11

Draft at Jacs. Served in official glass. Deep purple-red hued black, with a thick, luscious, beige head. Smooth and creamy, light carbonation. I probably prefer the mouthfeel from the bottle nine times out of ten with Belgians, this being no exception. Some sour cherry tones, as well as a rich, deep raisin malt tone. Easy going for the ABV, with a lot of dark fruit tones the whole way. Quite an excellent example of an Abt or a Quad in my opinion. Well, maybe a Belgified Doppelbock too. So many pungent fruity tones. Creamy finish.

Wonderful beer. Active frothy head with pour. Used a New Belgium .47L tulip glass. Color is dark, around 18-23 lovibond. Taste was sweet with hints of caramel and red wine. Very active on the palate. Definetly getting more for the price I found it for at the store.

Decent strong ale. Maybe I had had a few too many others in order to give this one its fair rating.

Bottle shared at a recent BA/RB tasting... Poured reddish brown with a tan head. A warming brew with a decent amount of malt sweetness and spice. Lots of caramel toastiness and some yeast qualities.

Cork reads December 2007. Dark with a reddish hue and a tan head. Slightly sweet maltiness, strong, and a hint of nuttiness and dried fruit (cherries mostly). Interesting and a bit heavy.

750, corked and caged. Pours an opaque dark brown with a dense and creamy medium tan head. Plenty of sheeting lace. Big sweet sugary malt and dark tree fruit nose--caramel, figs, dates, plums, raisins, toffee, treacle. Creamy medium body with plenty of lively carb. Complex and sweet mid-palate with all the suspects from the nose returning for the reunion tour. Gets a bit sticky and cloying after a while, but, served with food, it never loses its charm. Definitely a keeper.
