The new masterpiece from the Val-Dieu brewery. A very complex and full-bodied beer with a long aftertaste. The brewmaster advices to cellar the beer for a year for it to unfold its full potential.

Sampled @ ZBF 2015. Dark brown, little mocha head. Nose light dark wood, lots of sugar, touch overripe dark fruit. Taste is strongly sweet, brown sugar heavy, overripe fruits, lightly soapy, yeast, raisins, caramel, strong spices. Not as heavy as you would expect. Good, would expect more complexity but satisfactory as a sweet & strong Belgian. (Thx! for sharing people!)

Pours a very dark chestnut with reddish hues, and smallish (for the style) off-white head. Fresh bouquet with lots of yeasty fruit, roasted, chocolatey malts, a little metallic scents, wet dog and some boosy prickle at the back. Medium bodied palate with a little heat, low intensity but with a very long finish. Rather tame and pedestrian for the style though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap in 10oz goblet at meddlesome moth in Dallas with commonmac. Dark ruby with very frothy white head. Candy sweet nose. Dark fruit and heavy yeast. Good body and great balance. Some spice, but smooth . Love the finish. So good. A must do...or must val do...

750 ml bottle. Very dark brown. Aroma is a shit ton of dark fruits (raisins, figs and dates).

The flavor is great layers of dark fruits. Layers and layers with a thin body. However, the yeast and dark fruits are really layered well. ABV is hidden well. Sweet flavor, but not overly sweet but I really like it.

750ML, best by 4/2015. Dark brown pour. smells a little tart, cranberry, some grape juice, taste is good. very standard belgian taste. good yeast strain. It’s pretty darn sweet. dark fruits, raisins, cranberry. interesting beer but complexity isn’t huge here.

Reddish very dark brown, tan head. Nose is malty, fruity, spice notes, some sweetness, caramel. Flavor is spice, cinnamon, malt, toast, lots of caramel, dried fruit. Finishes with tons of booze, sweetness, spice, toasty malt and more caramel. Shared by martjoobolut, thanks!

Bottle from Brusin’ Ales. Pours black with an inch of khaki foam. leaves a lot of lacing in the glass. has some of that nice Belgian yeast thing on the nose along with some maltiness. Hides it’s big booze content nicely. Rich and malty on the tongue. Finishes clean. A nice surprise from a brewery I don’t know a lot about.

75cl bottle, best before 03/2011. It looks like it leaked around the cork so hopefully it is still good. Pours a flat dark brown with no head and completely still. Bummer. Nose is of strong dark brown sugar and maybe even molasses. Lots of alcohol too but I found it to be fitting. Taste is moderately sweet with again a lot of brown sugar, toffee, maple syrup. Not quite fruity like your usual quad, all sugar. Alcohol does warm you quite a bit. Body is medium, carbonation nil and mouthfeel syrupy. Overall I’m not sure if I should have reviewed but it was still enjoyable even with everything fighting against it. I’ll try to cook with the rest of the bottle.

6L bottle during RBWG. Pours a cloudy brown with large frothy beige head. The aroma is raisin and caramel. Thin mouth with dark fruit, caramel, yeast, and light dry finish, good.
