COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The new masterpiece from the Val-Dieu brewery. A very complex and full-bodied beer with a long aftertaste. The brewmaster advices to cellar the beer for a year for it to unfold its full potential.

Poured from a 500ml bottle into a chalice, dark brown with no head to speak of. Aroma was a big dose of dark fruit. The taste was sweet and as expected a lot of prune, raisin, fig and the like. Lightly carbonated. Very little alcohol burn. This pales in comparison to something like St. Bernadus ABT 12, but still a nice beer and an under-rated brewer.

Amber beer with a good white head, medium carbonation. Tastes like (too) sweet, sugar, vanilla, raisins, fruit and mild spice. Sweet, but nice flavor.

This is a bold Belgian brew I love to drink from time to time. A massive beer; strong, high in alcohol and full of body. The flavours are very mild, maybe a bit too subtle. In contrast with the taste which is very, very rich: Sugary sweet with licorice, candy and vanilla punches. This ale is very enjoyable but it definitely is not refined - the Grand Cru is a coarse brew, with out of balance sweetness.

Sampled @ ZBF 2015. Dark brown, little mocha head. Nose light dark wood, lots of sugar, touch overripe dark fruit. Taste is strongly sweet, brown sugar heavy, overripe fruits, lightly soapy, yeast, raisins, caramel, strong spices. Not as heavy as you would expect. Good, would expect more complexity but satisfactory as a sweet & strong Belgian. (Thx! for sharing people!)

Lawger (203) - SWEDEN - APR 23, 2015
Pours a very dark chestnut with reddish hues, and smallish (for the style) off-white head. Fresh bouquet with lots of yeasty fruit, roasted, chocolatey malts, a little metallic scents, wet dog and some boosy prickle at the back. Medium bodied palate with a little heat, low intensity but with a very long finish. Rather tame and pedestrian for the style though. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap in 10oz goblet at meddlesome moth in Dallas with commonmac. Dark ruby with very frothy white head. Candy sweet nose. Dark fruit and heavy yeast. Good body and great balance. Some spice, but smooth . Love the finish. So good. A must do...or must val do...
