The new masterpiece from the Val-Dieu brewery. A very complex and full-bodied beer with a long aftertaste. The brewmaster advices to cellar the beer for a year for it to unfold its full potential.

Very nice complexity. The beer has a nice sweet aroma of roasted malts, and spices. The beer tastes like it smell but with a bit of a chocolate flavor. The beet has a great alcohol content to go with the spices that would make it a good winter warmer

Wow! Lekker donkere Grand Cru! Bruisende smaak met een licht zure reuk. Enorm lekkere, zacht bittere nasmaak. Heeft wat weg van Kwak bier.

Big bottle purchased (sadly) at Total Wine and Spirits in Burnsville. Consumed with commonshawn and commonsam before heading out to Chicago and Lolla tomorrow. Aroma is simply outstanding. Dark fruit, chocolate, and cherries come to mind right away. Deep plum like color leaning towards brown. Tan frothy head. Everything visually and aromatically makes me want to taste this beer. Taste is very rich with notes of chocolate and raisins coming through with gusto. This reminds me of some of the better Belgians I’ve tried in Brussels. Alcohol is very well hidden which is crazy given the ABV. Smooth and silky mouthfeel. Definitely seek this one out at your next opportunity. Hard to Val-Dieu much better.

Niet slecht, maar had er meer van verwacht. Smaakt zoet en een beetje apart. Droog in de nasmaak.

Dense beige head. Caramel, raisins, & the sweetness of other dried fruits. For me it's more of a digestif. I wasn't in the mood for it, but it was what I had on hand on a 30 degree Celsius day. The 10.5% can hit pretty quickly in these conditions. Alcohol is high to balance the rich complexity of this beer. It's big, malty, & sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
