3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 75cl, at Cardinal. It’s a hazy, reddish beer topped by a small, beige head. The aroma is lighlty sourish, with cardamom, cloves, caramel and some roasted notes and sweetness. It’s lightly sweet on the palate, more or less full-bodied, lightly tart and with some sourness. Cardamom, cloves, roasted malts, some bitterness and caramel too. Roasted malts, caramel and spices in the end. Even though it’s lightly sourish and a few months past BB-date, I like it. That’s highly unusual for Valdres beers. 121022

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Fenaknoken enjoyed at home
Pours dark redly brown with a tanned head. Smells of spice, yeast, caramel, dark fruits and malts. Taste is medium malty, medium sweetness and some nice fruityness. Here i also find some juniper. Medium bodied, soft to flat carbonation. Light light bitter finish, this not a bitter beer. There are some mild hops in the background

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
750 ml swingtop bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 4.7%. Despite the name, this is not a stout by any stretch of the mind, but a "Christmas spiced" version of their ordinary Staut, which is listed at RateBeer as a brown ale (English session style porter might be more appropriate). Dark brown colour, moderate off-white head. Moderate aroma of malts and Christmas spices, hints of liquorice. Smooth and soft flavour and mouthfeel - malts, caramel and Christmas spices (incl. cinnamon).

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Flaske 0,75l. Spandert av Rune på romjuls-sammenkomst 28.12.10. Mørk brun på farge. Lavt skum. Sterk aroma: Fersken på boks / mango. Smak av banan. Uvanlig. Gjennomført fruktig preg. Kan det være einerlågen? Bra øl men ingen typisk stout.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle form Meny Grønland.
Junipher, nutmeg, cinnamon. Herbal bitterness, yeasty palate. a More robust beer base would have tackled the junipher twigs more - but this is probably very true to style. Traditional ale style, that is.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750ml flip-top bottle brought back home from Fenaknoken in Oslo. Nice appearance with a deep and shiny mahogany coloured body. Bubbly ring to the rim of the glass. Unusual fresh aroma in the direction of smooth mango fruits. Lightly spiced, flambé fruits and juniper berries in flavour. Rounded mouthfeel. Unusual with some excitements (shared with friends at a romjulsfest in Tromsø, 28.12.2010).

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
0.75L swing-top bottle, picked up@Meny Grønland Torg, Oslo. A layer of ’fish-eyes’, fading to ring of beige bubbles to the rim. Good-looking body, brilliant dark red with a shade of mahogny. Unusual aroma. Dry apple cider-ish, seasoned with mild spices. A note of stale, almost cardboardy hops, and suggestions of unripe berries.
Very light malt base, light sweet with a watered down mouthfeel. Some pepper and mild spices. Earthy, dusty, almost chalky hop character. Sourish malts and a certain fruity acidity in the end. Not a favorite, yet a decent one. But lack some depth and freshness.
