2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask. Pours a cloudy opaque dark brown with an orange hue and a small beige head. Lightly nutty and roasted nose. Light body, flat, roasted nutty accents and even roast all through the finish. Has a vague underlying tartness. Not much of a Porter. 200110

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
2010-05-01. Very dark brown body with a small creamy beige head. Aroma is oddly vinuous, fruity almost blackberry like character. 6+ Flavour has a similar fruity blackberry like tang, dry malt, very light roast touches if you look. I suspect the fruit character may not be entirely on purpose, but it was not unpleasant. Average palate. Okay. Bottle from The Grog Shop, Oxford

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask - Travellers Inn, Halifax. Opaque black/brown with a thin but dense tan head. Treacle and roasted malts on the nose. More treacle notes in the flavour with chocolate and some roastiness. Soft mouthfeel with a lasting dry bitterness. A nice, sweet but balanced porter.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Still and very dark with no head whatsoever. Chocolate and sticky weetabix aromas with coffee and rich toffee.
Too carbonated for me but nice, deep flavours of chocolate and balsa wood. Unfortunately metallic. Less than fascinating.

Bottle. Poured a brown-black with no head. texture was chalky and dry with some odd bubblegum/brown ale sweetness, but a decent if unusual effort overall.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 10, 2008 500 ml bottle thanks to Casey. Pours a pure black with a medium light brown head. I was really surprised to see a bunch of light brown sludge on the cap and all over the inside of the bottle, it looked like melted chocolate...I was interested to say the least. The aroma was fairly light; some roasted malts, coffee and a tiny hop contingent. The taste was quite nice; a smooth and easygoing roasted malt, some light fruits make it through and a dry astringency in the finish. Very nice.
