Full bodied dark Porter. An award winning wholesome full bodied Porter. Heavy malt flavour gives way to a wonderful hop character.

Cask @ The Sir John Moore. Sour grassy aroma. Dark brown, almost black colour, not much head. Interesting spicy marzipan flavour. A bit flat & watery with treacle aftertaste. Almost drinkable.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol 15/02/2011. Near black with next to no head. Sweet, caramel aroma with a touch of liquorice. Flavour was very sweet, with toffee, milk chocolate and liquorice chews, before a touch of back coffee in the finish. Not brilliant.

Cask @ Crystal Palace, JDW. Black colour, beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, hint of fruits. Flavour is roasted malts, chocolate, fruits. Medium bodied. Well drinkable.

Cask at the Three Guineas, Reading. A full-bodied porter with richly roasted malt aroma and taste; smooth and milky body and a dry finish. Very good.

Very dark with off-white head which rapidly disappears. A dry porter with a slight licorice flavour finishing with dusty hops.

Cask (gravity) @ NWAF 10, National Winter Ales Festival, The Venue, Sheridan Suite, Manchester, England.

Clear dark brown color with a average, frothy to creamy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, roasted, caramel, coffee - sweet dusty coffee. Flavor is moderate to light light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration, dusty, sweet malt, dry. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. [20100120]

Cask at the Great British Beer Festival 2010, served in an English pint glass. Pours black with tan bubbles and no head. On the nose, aromas of licorice, berries and sweet roasted malt along with smoke and molasses. The flavour is sweet roasted malts with coffee and chocolate. On the palate, medium in body with a milky texture and light carbonation. Overall, an interesting porter. It is light but quite flavourful with roasted notes dominating. 2010-08-04

Cask@GBBF2010. Deep reddish brown colour with small off-white/beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, some chocolate and coffee. Also mild ashy notes. Flavour is caramel, roasted malts some ashes and mild coffeeish notes. Mild bitterness in the finish. Gentle and smooth.
