Cask conditioned handpump Racehorse Northampton. A bright gold coloured beer with a white head and lacing. A sessionable beer with a straightforward hop bill. Bits of citrus in there and it’s easy to drink. A little safe though.
4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 ladnewton (1142) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - JUN 10, 2009
Cask at the Lamb & Flag, Oxford on 29th April 2009. Hoppy and packed with flavour, lingering fruit and hop notes intertwining in a deliciously spectral chord of flavour. Worth pausing between sips to experience the long and satisfying finish
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Fin (6180) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 2, 2009
Cask at the Nut Tree, Murcott, Oxon 02-04-09 Pours golden with small white head, good clarity. Crisp and with a good bitter hoppiness but this is also quite dry and fairly malty some sweetness hangs around but even though its doesn’t come across as a bitter beer its surprising how long that bitterness stays for. Decent beer and glad that I’ve finally found it, in my local of all places. Following a conversation with Ian Mackey at Vale I have a feeling that the recipe for this may have been tweaked recently, though I may be getting that confused with another one of their beers. Cask at the Whey Pat Ale Festival, St Andrews. Nose is hoppy and citrus with a bit of fustiness in the nose. Mouth continues down a similar vein, with quite a crisp bite of hops at the end with a touch of spice. OK.

JDW, Maidstone. A beautifully fresh and well balanced Golden Ale with an interesting and sharp cats’ pee aroma. Soft juice moves into a grapefruit finish. Cuts cleanly through the thirst with a vanilla feel in the middle before the woody citric finish. Glorious!
