Handpull cask at County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Hazy copper colour with thin white head. Maybe not cleared yet. Muddled flavours, nice hop, some strawberry grapefruit. Earthy/muddy but good fruit. Quite a nice session beer, certainly plenty of flavour. Drying hop finish. Some yeast on nose

Bottle conditioned. Amber brown with a big fluffy foam. Aromas are caramel and toffee malts with oranges and yeast. Flavours are malty with a juicy fruitiness. Dry and nutty towards the finish with a pricklly carbonation. Earthy, peppery hops on the finish with a bitter aftertaste with some metal. Pretty good.

Cask (handpump) at the Willow Walk (JDW), Victoria. Pale copper colour. Crisp, fresh and quite dry. Distinctly bitter with mild citrus notes. No great depth of flavour. Slightly tart finish. Although there’s really not that much to this beer, it is a session bitter, and a quite decent one.

UPDATED: APR 25, 2011 1)Cask, The Victoria Inn, Rugby. Brassy dark gold lidded with white. Musty celery-hinting aroma with shrubby Germanic touches. Cherry and marzipan peeping through caramel, not a lot happening. Big floury finish. Not great. 2) The Shoes. Rerate? Swish of fern and mineral sourness, eggy dough sprinkled with vanilla; sultana. Weetabix afters. Clear bronze with firm nitro collar. Sour mineral, slight woodland aroma. Dull and decent. 353612.
