COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Also available bottle conditioned (at 4.5%).
From the Valhalla Brewery in Unst, comes this light, refreshing ale. It takes it's name from the ghostly apparition of an old woman who appears in vehicles, usually driven by lone males, on a lonely stretch of road just three miles from the brewery. White Wife is available with an ABV of 3.8% in cask form and 4.5% in bottles. It is a light golden clean session ale, with a dry, refreshing, bitterness and a characteristically fruity after taste.

A hazy amber beer with a small disappearing beige head. The aroma is hoppy combined with light notes of caramel, while the flavor is sweet and with primary notes of caramel, leading to a good hoppy end.

The (usual) Valhalla aroma. Color is a hazy amber with a small but steady head. Flavor is herbal, some liquorice. Does White Wife mean dead wife? She looks like it..

Bottle conditioned, from Fabeers in York. Amber, good longlasting creamy white head and good condition. Pleasant hop and caramel with hints of strawberries in the aroma. Slight fruity tartness in the mouth, again suggesting strawberries, caramel is more muted and the hops almost missable. Fruity finish with a trace of metallic hop bitterness.

Slightly hazy pale gold colour. Very flowery hoppy aroma, with lots of edgy citric attack, although a bit green and undeveloped. Hops dominate the flavour too, but rather sweeter than I anticipated. The finish is lemon accented - somehow sharp and sweet at the same time. Quite nice. Cask (handpump), Catford Beer Festival.
