COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Imperial Chocolate Porter. Pillars Of Strength series.
Pathos has a slightly burnt malt aroma. However it’s balanced on the sweet side with a massive chocolate profile that has hints of toffee and caramel. Moderate earthy hop aromas help guide the senses to the chocolate experience. The flavor is forward driven by chocolate and minor flavors of burnt, roasty malt characters. Because of the rich chocolate nature, the aftertaste is somewhat drier than actual but a lingering sweetness does carry out the finish. Moderate hop bitterness helps balance out the richness of the chocolate flavor allowing several dimensions of flavors to come through. Carbonation is kept to the lower side to help increase the mouthfeel and provide the palette more area to experience the flavors being emitted from the beer. 48SRM 22.2°P

UPDATED: JUL 25, 2013 Had this on tap served on nitro. Appearance was black with a nice tall creamy head that slowly subsided. Aroma had some nice roasted and chocolate notes, but also had a slight metallic note to it that I didn?t care for. Mouthfeel was full and creamy as expected with a dry finish. Taste was of smooth chocolate without being overwhelming and just enough hops to give some balance. Overall an enjoyable and well done beer.

Black pour with a small tan head. Roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee. Metallic aroma, some burnt sugar, banana, and licorice. Lightly charred and dark fruits. The flavor is more enjoyable than the nose. Big roast and coffee notes. Dark chocolate, licorice, and burnt sugar. Some dark fruits, maybe vanilla, and a light sweetness.
