Bottle: The aroma consists of moderate apple (somewhat cider-like), dark fruits, raisins, light hone, and a touch of chocolate. It pours a somewhat transparent ruby with lots of fine sediment and a small off-white head that quickly settles to thin film outlined by a soapy ring. The flavor starts with apple, grapes, dark fruits, and faint caramel. The finish is light-moderately toasty with a touch of chocolate and spice. It’s medium bodied with mild carbonation.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Completely off kilter for the style. It is balsamicy and dark in color. Plenty off of flavors. Somehow it kinda works but mostly it doesn’t.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This pours a dark, medium brown color with a slight head. The aroma is sweet with caramel malts, molasses, and sugars. The taste is sweet and smooth which is very uncharacteristic of an Abbey Tripel as it drinks and tastes more like a thin stout. This very unusual taste will probably turn you off if you are Tripel drinker.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle - Pours rosy cola color with a thin tan head. Nose is honey, molasses, corn syrup, with a big, doughy, yeasty breadiness. Some plasticy sourness and candied tropical fruit. Taste is candi sugar, dark corn syrup, big bready yeastiness, and some of the green apple (?) from the description. Long, sweet, weird finish, with warm booziness, green apple, and tons of sweetness. Fairly thin but slick, with medium carbonation. I have not been impressed with Valkyrie’s offerings.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle via Khoffman. Pours a ruby brown color with a finger of eggshell foam that settles out very quickly. Aromas of toasty sweet malts with a bit of dark fruit; fig, raisin, date and a lil booze. On the palate its a nice balance between sweet malts, dark forest fruit notes, touches of nutty caramel and a bit of grassy bitterness on the finish. Not a bad Abby style beer... could use a touch more carbonation to clean up the heavy mouthfeel.

Sample at brewery. Pours an orangish-brown. Aroma is sweet. Flavor is very fruity, low alcohol content. Taste like a brown ale. Flavor is a lot of green apple and thats about it. Interesting, but not great.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Yessa mista John, way more like a dubbel not a triple. but pretty weak in my opinion. Coming up like a light brown ale. Light brown, light froth. Aroam is little spicey otherwise pretty fruity, light in malts, way lighter then i would have expected in the mouthfeel. The last few Viking beers have been dissapointing for me unfortuantely.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
tripel, huh? surprisingly dark... brown pour with some orange tints and a thin off white head.
odd smell of apples... skins and green branches with leaves still on them... mixed with malty sweetness, brown sugar and spiciness.
the tastes takes me back... homemade apple pie filling... fuji apples spritzed with lemon juice, butter, salt, brown sugar and cinnamon. along the way add in some malt syrup, piloncilla-like sweetness and fresh squeezed apple juice and sticks... weird. yeasty bread-like aftertaste. the palate starts dry enough but finishes off cloyingly sweet. especially with the help of the medium-thick body and low carbonation. odd... 5/4/5/2/10/2.6
