COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Because of the spice trade, the Vikings changed the shape of the world. Vikings were the international tradesmen of their time who created trade routes and traveled as far as southern Thailand to bring back those all important spices used to preserve and flavor foods and drink.

Blaze Orange is light lager brewed with real orange extracts and exotic spices from Southeast Asia.

Spices in Blaze Orange include: Madagascar & Ceylon Cloves, Ground Guatemalan Cardamom Seeds; Korintje Cinnamon from the southwest coast of Sumatra in Indonesia growing wild on the slopes of Mount Kerinci; Galangal, a flowery and intense ginger that is used in Indonesian and Thailand cooking; and hand harvested, cracked Sarawak White Peppercorns from the island of Borneo for a warm peppery finish.

We strive to find the finest ingredients available to make the best beer possible for you.

Bottle: The aroma consists of heavy orange, lighter orange peel, clove, and pepper. It pours a cloudy orangish-gold with a monstrous orange tinged off-white head that has ridiculous retention. Thereís a good amount of sediment floating around the glass. A lot of soapy/clumpy lacing is left on the sides of the glass. Itís virtually impossible to pour even a little bit into a glass without creating a head that would fill more than three quarters of the space. The flavor starts with moderate orange that lingers throughout along with some lighter orange peel notes. The finish has lots of spice with moderate clove, cinnamon, and pepper that really linger on the tongue for quite some time. Itís medium bodied with moderate carbonation and a somewhat soft mouthfeel. Overall, I initially feared an infection or severe over carbonation with the way it poured, but it didnít appear that either was the case. While it states on the label that itís a lager, it really comes across as a heavily spiced Wit beer that initially tastes decent but the spices begin to wear on me towards the end of the glass.

Bottled. Poured clear, bright golden with a short white head and lots of rising carbonation. The aroma picked up orange rind and related bitters joined by an array of Thai-ish spices.. peppercorns and cinnamon stood out, but there was a lot more. The flavor found tangy orange and peppery spices upfront, with sweet honey maltage following.. refreshing orange juice and peppery notes throughout.. picked up a hefty dose of cloves and some dry cinnamon on the finish. Lighter-bodied and a bit slick through the palate.. never too hot.. interesting spices.. weird stuff.

Bottle - Pours clear golden with a thin off-white head. Nose is--whoa--real heavy on the orange, and I have to say I get the kitchen cleaner reference. Itís a weird artificial orange with a peppery spiciness. Fairly dry, and slightly medicinal. Taste is light orange/lemon mineral water, white pepper and coriander, and that odd cleaning solution taste (not that I know what cleaning solution would taste like. Thin and fluffy and...who cares what it feels like in the mouth--this is some pretty vile stuff.

12oz bottle. Hazy tan-orange body. Thin non head. Herbal tea aroma. Really an odd creature. The spices take center stage..faint thin, clean golden malt in the background. Malt beverage indeed. No classical beer flavors...this one is a weird and heavily herbed and spiced...Drinkable, thin body.

At first smell, my thought was a mild citrus kitchen/bathroom cleaning solution. I hoped that would only pertain to the smell and not the taste, but unfortunately it tasted as bad as it its scent suggested. This came from a mixed pack of Valkyrie beers, and I must say that the the brewery overall seems to still be a solid choice. The other beers Iíve tried from it were rich and quite enjoyable, so Iím hoping this was just a bad batch of Blaze Orange. I normally try to salvage bad beers by making pancakes with them (especially with fruit or pumpkin beers), but this one seemed beyond hope. It was definitely a painful moment to have to pour the rest of a beer down the drain.

This may be the worst beer I have ever had. I see some other higher rating and I am suspicious I might have just had a bad batch. I hope that is a case because I am a Wisconsin native who really enjoys most of Valkyrieís brews, but the smell and taste of this beer is reticent of cleaning solution. Yes, what you scrub a urinal with. Valkyrie has some amazing beers, so please donít shy away from this brewery because of this beer, but this particular beer (and hopefully just this particular batch?) was terrible.

Sample at brewery. Pours a bright orange. Aroma is citrus and a blend of spices. Initially very sweet taste but.hits hard with.cinnamon, pepper and many other spices. Very unique and interesting. I liked it but wouldnt want a full glass.
