COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A very unique beer that will be a love or hate experience for most beer connoisseurs. The beer starts with our Central Valley Golden, Luna Blanca, aged and is soured in a bourbon barrel for one year. The barrel imparts a natural aroma of chile peppers from the use of organic rainforest coffee beans in a previous use. The Wonka effect is achieved through the addition of Scharffen Berger Cacao Nibs into the barrel. Aromas of Chile peppers, flavors of chocoalte and a dry sourness that defines this truely unique beer.

Pours Golden yellow with a small body. Nose is sweet with caramel, smoky, chile, pepper, sweetness. Taste is dominated with charred chilis, the chile’s add a lot of nice sweetness, good yeast notes, spices, just big bold flavors.

On tap at Stone Sourfest 09. Hazy brown pour with a foamy white head. Aroma is chile, cinnamon. Flavor is spicy, chili, bread, and a hint of funk.

Tasted on tap at Brewery. Thanks, Steve. A nice golden color with a fizzy white head. This beer actually has no chile in it, believe it or not. The spiciness comes from coffee beans! Strong aroma of chile, but if you’re looking for coffee, it will become evident. Nevertheless, it really does taste like chile and finishes with a distinctly nacho flavor. A seriously far out beer that gets points for originality.

On tap at Beachwood during their fest. Color was amberish. Aroma of pepper, yeast, sour and cocoa. Flavor came together very nicely. Pretty amazingly actually. Cocoa, pepper with a solid sourness. Well balanced. Very different, but very good.

On tap @ the Beachwood BBQ. Hazy orange with a 1 finger yellowish white head, good retention. Hot chili peppers dominate the nose with hints of earth, barrel and an underlying sourness. Flavor is even earthier with the addition of some bourbon notes. I’m having a bit of trouble finding the nibs. . . the finish was wheaty, bretty, bitter Ɠ out of 10) with the sourness @ a 3-4. Moderate carbonation with a light to medium body. Oh yeah--no heat in the flavor. Very different, but still enjoyable. Keep the crazy ideas up, Steve!

I had this beer on tap at Beachwood BBQ’s sour beer fest. This dark reddish/orange pour has some nice sourness with chocolate notes.

On tap at 2009 Stone Sour Fest. Cloudy yellow orange color. Light sourness. Nice smoky flavor reminiscent of smoked peppers. Easy to drink.

UPDATED: AUG 23, 2009 On tap. Pours a haxy golden with a tiny, rough white head. Spicy and lightly tart aroma. Light body, roasted malt with a chocolate touch and again these spicy chili notes. Ends Bretty and slightly sour. Amazing that no chillis were added. 130709

Pours foggy golden with a tart funk, coffee and spicy chili nose. The flavor is same as the nose with coffee pepper, and a bit too subtle of a chocolate influence. Needs more chocolate! Nice oak finish.
