Tap at the Bistro BA fest. As Bourbon Evil. Clearish light amber with off-white foam and bubbles. Sort of woody/herby aromas. Medium body; mild carbonation. Flavor is very lightly sour, medium oaky, hint of bourbon. Thiere is no heat. This would be the session beer of death. Quite good.

On tap at Bistro BA Fest poured a clear gold with a small lingering ivory head. Aromas of bourbon, oak, honey, citrus and pear. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of honey, bourbon, oak, citrus and pear with a smooth dry lingering oak finish.

Draft. Amber beer with an off-white head. Light bourbon and malt aroma. Bourbon and yeast flavor with malt and light esters. Medium bodied. Fruity esters linger with bourbon, yeast, and malt.

Tasted from the barrel at brewery. Thanks, Steve. A beautiful version of the Evil. Nice fruit and honey aroma with some oak notes. Tastes of bourbon playing quite nicely with the honey and a good fruit presence with some oak to the finish. Excellent.

Tasted at the 4th Annual Bistro Barrel Aged Beer Fest on 11/14/2009. This Belgian Strong Ale pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, touch of honey, wood and bourbon. A medium bodied Belgian Strong Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and earthy. A touch of bourbon and oak. Nice balance. Fruity and sweet, with some additional sweetness from the bourbon barrel. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Draft at Bistro’s BA Fest! Nose is vanilla mixed with golden raisin fruitiness. Clear dark gold with a medium, glass lacing off white head. Flavor is oak, a light tart note, and more oakiness.

On tap at Bistro Barrel Aged Fest. Apparently a lot of others there enjoyed the Valley Brew offerings more than I did. I think these guys are a great brewery and got to meet Steve at GABF, but I’ve got to be realistic here sometimes. Not everything they brew is an amazing nectar of the gods. Anyway, this was pretty good. Similar to the brandy barrel version. Bright clear golden color with a small but lasting white head. Aroma is pale malt, bourbon, honey, oak, and fruity esters. Flavor is sweet pale malt, bourbon, honey, pomegranate, oak, vanilla, and slight caramel. Good stuff. Medium body with high carbonation and a lively mouthfeel, a little smoother on the palate than the brandy barrel version.

Draft @ Bistro Barrel Aged Festival. Pours an effervescent, clear orange-golden color; white head with good retention and fine-bubbled lacing. Very pleasant floral and toasty oak notes in the aroma; minimal barrel / bourbon character; very soft. Medium-to-full mouthfeel: solidly charred barrel notes, honey, certain bourbon / scotch notes here; just a touch rough, with some warming alcohol coming through. Generous, well-blended, and a relaxed sugary / malt core. Medium finish: toasty, sugar, lightly toasty barrel notes.

Pours bright and slightly dark golden with a thin cream colored head. Nose is sweet malts and fruit along with a full amount of bourbon. Same in the flavor with the bourbon accenting nicely. Moderately full mouthfeel.
